Krups XP5240 breakdown

I really like this espresso machine. Most of the times it makes coffee that is enjoyed by anybody who visits my house. It is the matter of good fresh coffee, water, skills and of course the equipment. Nevertheless the last of these factors failed after nearly 4 years of service.
I noticed a leak inside the machine. The easily accessible seals around the filter holder looked fine so I decided to descale my Krups before I go further. Then things got worse. When I had started the machine with the ON/OFF button the pump started pumping water into the tray which is obviously not the desired behavior.
I dismantled the espresso machine. See the results in the video.

Just try to fix..the hose is explode..the i cut the hose..put it back with clamp..but the hot water still leaking..because the preasure is too strong.. So i just buy the new one

Exact same fault with mine after 8+ years, on new years day morning no less ! Very happy to have found this as deffo dont want to replace the machine TY !

Exactly same issue, exactly same reason. Crack in the plastic where water is fed from the pressure pump. In a place where it cannot be covered or otherwise repaired. And unfortunately this input is always used so you cannot just i.e. ignore the steam unit (I have never used it) and swap the tubes to the other line. Thus pump water to espresso unit through former steam outlet. Otherwise it seems to be very simple and robust but this is Achilles' heel.

you can bypass the selector, the only problem is difficult to purge when you run out of water,, always must have water in dispenser

Hello, do you know why a KRUPS latt'espress getting a different volume of coffee than you used to. It is set to dispence 80 ml, and it dispence onli 50-60ml.

I thought that is the rubber where the handle goes but after rubber replacement 20 euro still the issue. It was fixed for 10 days though😅

Hi. I didn't. Cost of new required parts was about 35USD and my Krups was about 4 years old so I decided not to put any money in this machine and bought new Gaggia Classic.

the same problem with exactly the same symptoms ..... in my case one of the 3 way plastic tube holder (spreader) behind the main switch is completely broken (stack inside the tube). Is the one takes the hot water to the spreader ............... plastic spreader ????!!!!!

I inherited this machine from my sis in law 4 years back, she may have used it for maybe 1 year, and I only recently started using it for about a year.... I was wondering do I have to OPEN the Filter Holder for cleaning purposes or is it self cleansing? I see the securityT screw but never bothered opening..recommended?

I bought this used, unscrewed the filter and cleaned it properly, since there was a lot of gunk, burner coffee leftovers, I would suggest opening it up and cleaning it.

I needed a new multivalve but the smallest available replacement part is much bigger - it is a front panel with a multivalve and some other small parts attached. It costs about £30 so the decision was clear and I just got rid of the machine and purchased new Gaggia Classic :-)

nirgalZG what multivalve do you mean? is it like a ring inside the ma chine?

It is the valve operated by the circular knob on the front panel. This valve has several hoses attached. One of the outputs of my valve was broken and was causing the leak.

nirgalZG ooh, mine is little different, it's leak around group head, not leak on group head and not too much water comes out, only water droplets. is it the same problem? and after serving about 2 cups my pre heating system takes out hot water in drip tray and steaming button takes out water too.. do you know what the problem is?

I could buy a new front panel coming with a switch and a valve but it seemed too expensive so I ditched the unit and purchased Gaggia classic (btw poor quality espresso machine after being taken over by Philips).

@@nirgalZG i got worse problem, no water coming out at all, only steam, i guess it is the valve issue. what do you mean by poor quality? it is gaggia or krups?
