I purchased the Kawasaki glass windshield with my KRX, first trail ride at Quartzsite Az and the dust was being sucked into the cab due to the low pressure caused by the windshield. it was unbearable, I looked like I walked though a flour factory when I got back to camp. I removed it and purchased a Super ATV flip-up windshield, big improvement! I leave it up when trail riding and put it down when driving to the gas station. Still get some dust inside but nothing like before.

I love my KRX but it is the dustiest machine I've ever been in. I added the dust seal kit and have put around 400 miles on the machine since. I definitely think it cuts down on the dust and helps quite a bit so I'm happy with the purchase. I also installed the kit with the plastic rivets so the 3M wouldn't fail

I plan on using the plastic rivets soon, just wanted to test like it came first. 👍

Great video. Thank you fir sharing your knowledge. It appears to me that there are a few attempted fixes for the dust problems on ATV/UTV’s however no body is using scientific data to know what the problem really is, how bad the problem is the the actual effects of fixes. The dust problem in our Polaris General is so bad, that I am investing is differential pressure instruments to measure the negative pressure (vacuum) inside the cockpit. With a glass windshield and back glass in, I have measured .5” of water column negative pressure between the two front seats at 40 MPH. My goal is to create a positive pressure thus eliminating the vacuum and resulting dust problem. I feel the dust is not so much a sealing problem as it is an aerodynamic problem that is curable.

Everyone in our group that owns a sxs ended up removing their windows all together. It's the fastest way to get rid of the dust.

You should try the half windshield with the lip on top, as the wind goes up and over your head, and you are still protected mostly, unless it rains, or if you are on a dusty gravel road and 2rd or more place following others... In that situation you are pretty much screwed regardless of what you do, unless you figure out a complete sealed enclosure with some sort of filtered air so it doesn't all fog up and get too damn hot! LOL But the half windshield with the lip is pretty amazing the way it directs the air flow up, the back forward, and then comes back higher up and over top. I have a Batwing on my Harley with the low lipped tinted windshield, which worked so well, I looked for the same option for the SxS. Especially if you completely removed the windshields.

I’m running the Alpha windshield with vents on the front of the RMAX with a soft cab back glass. Seems to help a lot. Also, I’m installing two over head fans (radiator fans) pointing downward. I’m going to experiment with these with soft enclosure doors open and closed to see if they reduce dust and keep us cooler in the summer.
@DerangedOffRoad3 жыл бұрын
Curious to how the fans work, keep us updated. 👍

I have installed the cab seal kit. I think you will find dust entering at the back side of the battery box now. The kit doesn't stop dust in this area.

If you have a front windshield you will need a rear one to keep the dust from going up to the front windshield if you notice on Dave's xrc he has a rear window which is the reason why he probably has little dust. You may have noticed this with a pickup that has a bunch of beer cans in the back they all want to go up to the rear of the cab when driving fast 😉😁👍🍻

I started out with front and rears, after 3-4 days I ended up removing the rear and opening both vents of my glass vented windshield and it was much more tolerable, again, that's what seemed way better for me.

I have a Harley Soft Tail Slim, and put a Batwing on it with a short tinted windshield with the lip on it, and that lip makes such a massive difference where the wind and bugs are about 6 inches over my helmet, instead of in my face, and the top of the windshield is lower than my eye level! So, on both of my Arctic Cat Wildcat SxS's, I bought the half windshields with the lips on them, and the same thing happens now, where the air goes over my head and is awesome! However, it's still unbearable when I'm 2nd or 3rd following on a dry dusty gravel road, and drives ne crazy... I've now purchased a leather sewing machine, and the materials to make myself custom enclosures, and am going to seal these damn things up nice and tight, and will be trying to create some sort of air filter system as well, which I was thinking of a water bong type situation where the water can easily be dumped and changed... No clue if I'll be able to make the filter part work, but I'll figure out something for damn sure. Also, the enclosure will obviously only be used when on those terrible dusty gravel roads, and when it suddenly pours rain on us. Anyway, my point was the lip on the half windshields work awesome for most situations, which some people said they removed their windshields completely, where as getting these half windshields, but only the ones with the outward lip, are amazing for the most part!

Garrett, I know its been awhile since you posted this. Can you tell me what rubber seal you put on your doors before you tried the seal kit. You said it was from a garage door. been looking can't find the correct one.

I installed the kit and taped all seams inside the cab. I ended up stuffing rags down inside the rocker panels to get things sealed up. There is still excessive dust. (I have both front and rear windows.) I'm thinking a lot of dust might be reduced with better rear wheel wells as well as stopping mud from getting packed way up in the plastic. Been thinking how to do that, so if anyone has done so would like to hear about it.

Let me tell you my Pro XP has the worst dust in the cab of any side by side I've had. I had rzr 1000, x3, maverick sport and krx and the pro xp is ridiculous with dust. I didn't find the KRX to be bad at all and with all of those other machines I could be driving by myself or in the lead and not have any dust in the cab hardly. But with the Pro XP out for a day driving by yourself and the entire cab is completely saturated with dust. I think it has to do with the open wheel design and the extremely wide open lower front doors but I'm not too sure. I literally have to carry a rag to wipe off my goggles and the gauge cluster every few minutes.
