And at even the top tier of the car world, the people there still want to cut loose from time to time. One of the best openings to a game of ANY Era. GT2 was good. GT4 however kicked a whole different gear of Hype. GT3 was good we loved it to death. But it never felt complete. This mashing of songs generated so much hype on its own that people went nuts trying to get it. Its a feeling that was NEVER captured in the games before it or since. When The True GT7 finally drops, i pray its opening is at LEAST as good from a compositional standpoint as this one was.

While the lighting doesn't look as good as the models of the vehicles and the environment, this game can still be hard to compare to the upcoming Gran Turismo 7 on the also upcoming PS5 graphically! The lighting is just a 1000x better on the PS5 than on the PS2. (Yes, GT7 has been officially announced just two days ago as of writing this comment)

Juan Jimenez I'm 17 as a senior in high school and I had this back when I was in 1st grade and did the same thing as you man.. although, It's too bad my disc is messed up since it has been through a lot since then and is kinda scratchy but I loved this game and I'm definitely going to buy a new one for sure sometime soon.. Nothing compared to this intro and how the gameplay was in it's time which was around the time it was released when I had it which was when I was 4 so I got it pretty early.. But yeah there was nothing like it and it was my one and only Gran Turismo I ever played and probably ever will play since I never even knew this game had a story since I knew some cars were missing (Example: Falken Skyline R34)... So I definitely have some exploring to do when I reclaim this masterpiece! Sorry this was long but that's my story 😋..

I remember getting this game on Christmas Day, in 2005. I was five years old then. I've been playing the game ever since. Although I still have the game right beside me, this intro makes me want to cry, in a good way. It's just so beautiful. This game forever changed the racing game genre and it was a HUGE part of my childhood. I used to get so excited whenever I dominated a tournament and I hear the god-like drum-roll of a new car being an addition to my garage. I still do get excited. Yesterday, I got the Nissan GT-R LM Road Going Version. It was awesome.

It's crazy cuz as a kid I knew this intro was really good and as an adult I'm like damn they really went crazy on this. You NEVER see games this well made nowadays. They really went crazy on this game and they put a lot of work and love to it. I've played most of the racing games that came out in the last 20 years and this one still one of the best if not the best of all time. This intro is insane like what the hell. Whenever I replayed it a couple years ago I literally froze up and started tearing up because of the intro. I definitely will replay this i don't care how much it cost to buy a PS2 THIS GAME IS JUST SO WELL MADE. As a kid I was like this game is really insane and as an adult I realized this is one of the best racing game games if not the best of all time because I haven't seen one even come close to this and it was made so long ago. This just goes to show you they really put a lot of care and love to it. That ford GT is just so beautiful.

Vengo a este video un par de veces al año solo para recordar las horas de diversión que me dejó este magnifico juego cuando era niño. Solía jugar con mi papá y mis hermanos por horas. Una carrera decidía quien lavaría los platos de la comida :,) en verdad se jugaba la vida en este juego. Los juegos han mejorado mucho desde entonces y seguro han sobrepasado al gt4 pero este siempre será mi favorito porque fue mi infancia. Hoy ya no tengo a mi viejo amigo ps2, se lo regalé a un primo pequeño hace varios años porque yo ya no lo usaba. Ahora me arrepiento :( Pero aún consevo mi memory card con gt4 tal vez al 90%, la conservo como un recuerdo de los momentos más felices de mi vida. Ahora uno de mis sueños mas grandes es conseguir una ps2, una copia de gt4, conectarlo a la tv y enchufar la memory card para termina lo que empecé hace años y que una vez más se me erice la piel al escuchar Moon over the castle y luego romperme el cuello al ritmo de Panama.

Probably the most masterfully crafted intro in the series, strategically showcasing everything the game brought new to the table at the time: photo-mode renderings, more diverse track environments, animated pit crews, impressive track roster, and a collection of cars so massive that even today few games have come close/surpassed it. Things like that in addition to having the white Ford GT race car being a prominent icon in the game (on the box art, on the Mode Select screen, in the background of Arcade Mode, all over the intro movie, having the number 4 on its side, and being the prize car for the game's first major event) helped GT4 secure an identity, something that every installment since doesn't really have in my opinion.

This intro made me cry. The first racing game I ever played was GT4 when I was 5. I finished that and got 1, 2 and 3 off my uncle, as he was a big fan of GT but he didn't have the time anymore. I'm only 14, but since I picked up GT4, I can't wait to get in a car and drive GT holds a big place in my heart, and it is the only reason I refuse to buy an Xbox. Shame PD keeps ruining the series by monetizing it. Bring back Midfield Raceway please PD!

I fell in love with driving when I was about 13 or 14 years old with the release of the original Gran Turismo 1. Truth be told, the knowledge I gained from GT - learning about traction, braking, and center of gravity - actually helped me avoid a couple of accidents when I was a new driver without without much real experience. Just be sure you dont get overconfident and drive unsafely, and your pre-driving experience with GT will be a great plus and a pleasant lifelong memory.

GT4 was the first ever racing game i played. i remember when my father got it for me on my grey ps2 slim as a 4 year old. it was the most fun i could ever have on a console. i never really understood how the physics worked as a 4 year old and never had any memory cards to play the career mode. so i kinda always just played arcade mode. never ever got bored of it lol. i would watch the intro every time i would load the game. being able to emulate this game now as a 20 year old brings a tear to my eye every time i launch it.

Ahh GT4... The game where you grind for days on end for a license, and a decent car that doesn't suck ass, while occasionally finding yourself wondering "I swear to god it's impossible to progress further because I blew all my money on the wrong vehicle". Good luck getting a dodge viper, let alone an actual racecar (which is the entire point of career mode), because if you make ONE wrong turn, your game progression WILL hit a dead end! Good music though.

+MastaGamer27 You can get out of a dead end by re-racing events to get enough money or sell cars. There is no such thing of a dead end in GT4 unless you REALLY screwed up somehow, like you sold all your cars and you have 1 dollar left (Which isn't possible).

When I was about 8 years old I would always just race the same race to win a car and sell it over and over again... I made millions off it and bought whatever car I wanted... My all time favorite car I bought was the chaparral 2j :D ... I hated it with a passion cause it kept whooping my ass... Finally beat it with a Cadillac cien... But then I saw it in the next set of races and was like fuck that... So I bought my own with the car re-sell method I thought I discovered but actually the entire world knew lol... I think what is amazing is this was in a time when the PS2 was the weakest in terms of graphical power. Yet Gran Turismo 3/4 are criminally gorgeous even to this day, with 60 FPS to boot. Hell I believe 4 even had HD settings for higher resolution Televisions. Yet these days we can't even get a PS4 game at 1080p without sacrificing frame rate and even then some titles manage to be choppy even after the fact. I gotta say, the devs must've went through allot of loops and trickery to pull off what they did for these games.
