Yass finally a good review on this. I feel they are a hidden gem, you see all these expensive products and Kryolan does it better for half the price and is available in many places... I live in Argentina and it is so hard to find a good foundation for my pale olive skin tone. Go Kryolan!

Hi! I just bought the derma color camouflage cream to cover my melasma spots, and your video helped me a lot to improve the application by using a damp sponge. But, although I have combo skin and do a hydrating 5 steps skincare routine before application (since I’m already 35yo), I find the derma color to be drying on my skin - even before powder and much worse after. On the days I’m recording I’m ok with my makeup looking “heavy” and apparent as it doesn’t show on camera, but do you have any tips to make it look more like skin, while still being full coverage? Should I try a primer? Mixing face oil with the derma color? Any help is greatly appreciated 🥲🙏🏻

Hey! 😊 The cream foundation itself has more of a waxy, drying feeling and finish. You could try the following: 1. Get a bit of the cream foundation onto the back of your hand and then warm it up with your finger before applying it to the skin. 2. Add a drop of a glowy serum, primer, or oil to the foundation, then mix it on the back of your hand before applying it to the skin again. 3. Use an oil before applying the foundation (layer them instead of mixing). Also, may I ask about your AM and PM routine? Have you ever considered getting your melasma treated, or is it only temporary due to being pregnant?

@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDietthank you for the tips! ❤ I’ll try those and see what works. My AM skincare routine starts with the La Roche Posay Effaclar cleanser followed by the Effaclar LHA exfoliant. Then the Beauty of Joseon Ginseng essence water with niacinamide > CosRx snail mucin > Pyunkang Yul black tea eye cream and Cerave moisturizer for the rest of the face. On alternate days I switch the snail mucin for vitamin c serum. Then I wait 20 minutes for the moisturizers to dry down, then I apply sunscreen - if I want more hydration I go for the BOJ Relief sun, and if I need my makeup to last longer I go for the Rotho Skin Aqua UV super moisture gel Gold (and wait another 15-20 min before starting my makeup). For the PM routine, I use an oil cleanser to break up the makeup and sunscreen, and wash everything up with the Cerave foaming cleanser. After that I apply my tretinoin and leave it alone while I apply body lotion and get dressed, then I spritz my face with the Avene thermal water and apply the best thing I’ve ever used: the manyo Bifida Biome complex ampoule. Then I seal everything in with the Avene XeraCalmAD cream. If the weather is too dry, I go in with a face oil - either the Rovectin barrier repair face oil or the Haruharu wonder black rice face oil. (Sorry about the long comment, I get excited about skincare lol) About the melasma, it started with my pregnancy five years ago, but it has never left me, despite trying quite a few things: I’ve used hydroquinone, Azelaic acid, glutathione, and I’m still using retinoids and vitamin c. And nothing moves my melasma. It gets worse during summer with the heat and extreme sunlight - although I try to avoid being in the sun as much as possible and never skip sunscreen reapplication. I can’t use hydroquinone for extended periods (and it didn’t remove the melasma anyway, only sun spots and acne scars), and I couldn’t afford to keep buying azelaic acid or glutathione - so maybe they could have helped long term. But I’m sure there are other pigment inhibitors that I could try, just need to save some money. My derm told me to stay away from lasers as the heat and light can trigger the melasma even further… I wanted to try microneedling but that can also make it worse… Long story short, I feel like I just need to accept my melasma and try to cover it 🥲 Do you know any other potential treatments I could try?

@@ThankYouVeryBlush I think you're using too many skincare products🙈. You could really narrow it down to a simpler routine and consider discontinuing the LRP Effaclar Cleanser (and maybe exfoliant) because it can be quite drying on the skin. The one from CeraVe is less drying, although it's also a foaming cleanser. How long have you been using Hydroquinone? So, your melasma is related to hormonal changes. Have you ever consulted a doctor to check your hormone balance?

@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet hi! I’m sorry for the late reply 🙃 Thank you for the suggestion, but I really feel like I need to wash my face in the morning, since I have a German spitz that sleeps with me and it sheds so much 😭 And the Effaclar I use isn’t the medicated one with SA or the greenish micro-peeling one, it’s the blue container for sensitive skin, super gentle, more so than the Cerave one. I’ll maybe change to exfoliate every other day, and use more hydrating essences (always wanted to try the 7 skin method). I only used hydroquinone once and never again because I got scared of potential side effects of long term or repeated use. But it has been 4 years so maybe I’ll try again now in the winter. I recently did a blood test to check my hormones and it came back normal, but perhaps I need to go to a melasma specialist dermatologist as an endocrinologist might not give me proper advice related to my skin.

@@ThankYouVeryBlushOh, okay! :) In that case, you should keep using what works for you. If you're planning on trying hydroquinone again, do so under the supervision of a doctor :)

@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet5 жыл бұрын
There are a few stores that I could find in the US, but I don't know where you're from, what happens when you search for a Kryolan shop in your area? Sometimes other shops offer Kryloan products as well! If this isn't the case then online but you can send them an e-mail as well and ask what they can suggest you and help you to find the right match with samples or you're ordering a shade and if it isn't right that you can return it and get another one instead.

Will this help cover up frown lines
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet3 жыл бұрын
The thicker the texture of your foundation, the more it can settle into fine lines and wrinkles. This is a cream foundation which has a thicker texture, therefore, I recommend going with something lighter...like a bb cream or light fluid foundation! :)

I have been a krylon fan and user for years now. But since i moved to Netherlands,i get dry white patches around my mouth maybe its the weather or my face reacting to products it doesnt like. But I am hard time covering those dry scaly patches with my supra krylon foundations. It just goes sits between the dry patches and make them appear more evidently as adry, foundatioany patch. Can you suggest some fix for it? I put my foundation on with stippling brush. I do have a sponge but dont use it much. Also i think surface of my foundation disks might have become dried than creamy as it should be.
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet3 жыл бұрын
Hey! :) Do you use skincare products? Like a toner, exfoliant, serum and/or moisturiser? As for your dry patches, I recommend an exfoliant either as a cleanser or leave-on solution. This can help you loosen those dry patches and then follow hydration as either a serum and/or moisturiser. A great exfoliating cleanser would be Facetheory's Glycolic Acid Face and Body Scrub (use it 2-3 times per week and increase its frequency over time if you should feel the need and if that's fine for skin). When not using this cleanser, replace it with a gentle non-exfoliating cleanser. Or use an AHA leave-on solution like the Ordinary Mandelic Acid or Lactic Acid or Paula's Choice 10% AHA exfoliant...those are great for dry skin to exfoliate it gently. Use a gentle non-exfoliating cleanser when using a leave-on exfoliant. As for a hydrating serum, I recommend looking into Geek & Gorgeous Hyaluronic Acid serum (either light or rich). As for a moisturiser, I love La Roche Posay's moisturisers, such as their toleriane ultra fluid. Keep in mind, those are just examples! I have used all of them that I mentioned above and I enjoy them a lot! :) As for your foundation, depending on how old it is, it can dry out over time, making it less creamy!
