Our government is like if you needed a ride and both Uber and Lyft showed up. But all they did was argue over who was better and why for an hour, then both drive away leaving you sitting there. And they both still charge you for the ride you never got.

@@greenlantern7959 That infrastructure was in decay long before it went into disuse. We have had issues with our infrastructure for a long time and have not sufficiently addressed it. So good, we need to address it. This bill and the covid relief bill both failed to do one important thing though, create any long lasting systemic changes in our system that would benefit the poorest people in this nation. They are at best temporary bandaids on trauma that needs surgery. As someone that lives in generational poverty I can tell you these bills are not seen as the win that college educated white people are see them as. It isnt poor people using the interstates to move their goods, it isnt poor people using the electrical grid to power their factories. Infrastructure helps the rich more than the poor even though the poor do receive some benefits. A few construction jobs for five or ten years is the best some among the poor will get out of it. And for the poor people that dont get those jobs they can just stay poor with their tax credit that they didnt get anyway because they dont have kids. College educated white people are well intentioned but have not garnered meaningful results for the poor in decades.

Actually, the sad news is that Russia does not have a space race anymore. Like decades not anymore if not longer. Russia did provide crucial life support and such modules and acted as a space lift for crews with their Soyuz craft, but for example still have no science lab on ISS unlike other nations. Russia had major achievements in 1960'ies, perhaps 1970'ies, but not anytime recently.

Those in poverty have made far, far more money from those who exploit their poverty for cheap labour and goods, than vice versa. So no, far from enough has been spent on actual projects that target getting rid of poverty, rather than giving money that can be spent on particular machinary, which ties them into debt, etc. Hoover up, trickle down.
