you should definitely watch green lantern: emerald knights! its a great set of shorts centered around all the other lanterns that work with Hal and its awesome! Just a heads up tho, emerald knights reused the same character models as First Flight but its an entirely different continuity from First Flight, so dont be surprised if some characters act differently.

I always found the concept of the Emotional Spectrum and the Emotional Entities to be one of my favourite and most fascinating aspects of the Green Lantern mythos. It is honestly such a vastly creative and imaginative idea that not a lot of people credit.

I love how this film is basically Training Day, but in space. A lot of people tend to overlook Green Lantern due to how bad the live-action film was, but I can guarantee that Green Lantern has some of the best stories in DC Comic's history, and if you want to learn more about the intergalactic scope and vast mythology of the Green Lantern Corps, then would highly recommend reading the Green Lantern stories by Geoff John's, as he really expanded lore of GL to resemble the world-building of Star Wars, and explores the massive lore behind the Lanterns and how there are so many more Lantern colours embodying different emotions and history, not just green (representing will-power) and yellow (representing fear), such as Red Lanterns, Blue Lanterns, Violet Lanterns, Indigo Lanterns, Orange Lanterns etc... BTW Sinestro in this film is somehow both well-mannered and intimidating at the same time, definitely one of my favourite DC villains as he actually has a good point regarding how willpower can not always discipline criminals, deep down he understands that fear is the only way to bring order and peace, especially when threats in the DC Universe exist like Brainiac, Darkseid, The Reach, The Manhunters and other intergalactic threats (using fear to bring order is actually something Batman understands). Given how much chaos the Guardians created, it is actually quite understandable why Sinestro created the Yellow Lanterns/Sinestro Corps.

First Flight is definitely one of the best animated films and should have been the plot of the live action film. By the way I do suggest, if you haven’t already, that you try the DC Showcase shorts as they are really fun and while they are about 15 minutes they are a great way to learn about characters you might never have heard of like Sgt Rock and Jonah Hex.

The Sinestro Corps War is one of the best GL stories, it's about Sinestro waging war on the Green Lanterns with a corps of his own based on fear instead of will. The Sinestro Corps was one of the most OP organizations in all of DC when it went down, Sinestro straight up recruited a being that had destroyed the multiverse once, a version of Superman that once threw a punch so hard it broke reality, and Cyborg Superman who at that point had taken over the Guardians' first army, the Manhunters, an army of androids that went rogue and massacred an entire sector.

I enjoyed this. An expected betrayal, and one not so expected. Also I had no idea the rings were that powerful. Had no idea they could pass and receive information via the rings, & astral projections ( I think, connecting brain synapses temporarily to bring him back from the dead, or whatever Sinestro did.

The power rings (regardless of what colour) alone are some of the most powerful weapons in the universe, especially if utilised well, just as a single ring can practically do anything imaginable (from creating a fist to creating solar system), all depending on the strength of the user's emotion powering that rings energy: Will powers the Green Lanterns Creating fear in others powers the Yellow Lanterns Rage powers the Red Lanterns Hope powers Blue Lanterns (and super charges the Green Lantern as well ) Love powers the Violet Lanterns Greed powers the Orange Lanterns Compassion powers the Indigo Tribe (but only if the user had no compassion to begin with) Death fuels Nekron and the Black Lanterns Life/every other lantern fuels the White Lanterns.

If you want to learn more about the Green Lantern/DC Intergalactic Universe then I would recommend reading the Green Lantern comics by Geoff Johns. They are some of DC's best work and really explore the grand scale of the DC Universe and introduces the history of every Lantern Corp and the Emotional Spectrum.

The Guardians are pretty much defined by how stubborn, arrogant and self-righteous they are, to the point that when it turned out the majority of them became full on villains NOONE was surprised. There are a few ones among them who are like totally good an helpful, though. This movie is one of my faves in the DC lineup, really good mix of cosmic space stuff and buddy cop drama. If there is any green lantern comic I recommend, its Blackest Night. Not perfect, but its absolutely amazing, features evil zombie lanterns attacking earth and everyone needing to rise up and defeat them.

As you can tell by my username, I've been a Green Lantern fan for a very long time. So happy you decided to watch this. I'd also recommend Green Lantern Emerald Knights. It's a collection of stories about different Lanterns from the Corp's history. Also, Green Lantern fun fact; the constructs and the way constructs are made vary based on the personality and thought process of each individual Lantern. For instance, John Stewart is an architect and marine. His constructs are built structurally sound and he makes a lot of military equipment. Kyle Rayner is an artist. His constructs are fantastical and very detailed, but changing like he's never fully happy with how it looks. Hal is a smartass test pilot and former air force. He makes a lot of vehicles, machines, aircraft, etc. Though he generally is very straight to the point and so are his creations.

The animation was kinda basic but, it had the style of the old Batman and Superman animated series, just 3D.

The history of Green Lantern is long because the character has been around for decades. His origin story has changed slightly throughout the years and this origin is somewhat based on the comic book series when a do-over was initiated. The story is pretty good and so is the animation. I'm glad you liked it. "Justice League: New Frontier" is a definite must-see. It is what's referred to as The Silver Age in comic book history (the 1960s). All members of the league are starting to appear for the first time and getting to know one another. The artwork is really nice and so is the story plot. Looking forward to your next reaction. 😸

In the comics, the Yellow weakness was later explained that Yellow is the colour of Fear. The Green Lantern Corps had that weakness implanted in their Central Battery by the Guardians themselves(who had implanted the Fear Entity Parrallax into the battery, after their previous police force, the Manhunters went out of their control and killed a whole space sector).
