Before the Green Lantern Crops was created, the guardians built robots called the Manhunters which were artificial heroes but they weren't heroic enough and they were uncontrollable and ended up being villains with no mercy. And then, the guardians built the corps as a way of healing thier wounds of guilt of building the manhunters in the first place.

I think you would love the Green Lantern animated series! It’s in CGI but it was worked on by Bruce Timm like Batman TAS and Superman TAS. Different voices and continuity from this and doesn’t connect to those animated series (as far as I know), but it has great characters and stories. Also I don’t know if you did your hair like that specifically for this, but its awesome!

I'm honestly so excited that you are finally being introduced to Green Lantern. The constructs are probably one of the best and coolest things about the lanterns as they can literally make a construct of anything like you saw Hal making one of a shoe to squash Kanjar Ro's lieutenant or when Kilowog made a bed to catch Hal when he was falling. The constructs are based on the willpower and concentration of the user that creates it. I absolutely can't wait for when you get more into the lore of the Green Lantern as it's so expansive and broad. For one, there are other Lantern Corps besides the Green Lanterns. But I won't really get into it as whenever you watch the Green Lantern Animated Series, it will give you some understanding of the Green Lanterns and the other Lantern Corps. Same for when you watch Emerald Knights. I just love the ending of the lanterns all saying the oath. "In brightest day, in blackest night, No evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might, Beware my power... Green Lantern's Light!" So freaking epic! I really can't wait for you to learn more. Also once you get more of an idea of each Lantern Corps, I think it would be cool to see what Lantern Corps each of us in the community think we would be in

Green Lantern is part of the justice league. There are animated movies with green lantern Hal Jordon being part of the justice league. Hal Jordon is one of quite a fe earthly green lanterns. In the DC universe. Lanterns go by these rules. Green powered by will, yellow by fear, light blue by hope, dark blue or purple by compassion, violet or pink by love, orange by avarice, red by rage, white by life and black by death.

So, just to give you a heads up You wanted 'Tapioca' (Carol) to get a green ring...she actually has her own ring, a Violet one, from the Star Sapphires (Love). Sinestro's 'imprefection' is a Blue Lantern ring (hope), because Hope robs Fear of it's power, and strengthens Will. In actual terms, a Blue Lantern drains the charge of Yellow rings while boosting Green rings to 200% power. There are other things, but this is just covering the stuff you brought up. Also, on your thing about Hal and Sinestro being friends...they were for a lot longer than this movie made it seem, and as Sinestro once said 'I never stopped being your friend'. Sinestro is complicated and kind of horrifying.

And that 'Mega Lantern', I'm pretty sure he let Ion out. Each Lantern Corps has an Entity, basically an energy being that was the first being in the universe to feel that particular emotion. Ion is the Entity of Will, and he looks kinda like a whale. Of all the Entities, he exerts the least control on his bonded host. Basically, when Ion bonds with you, you're still in control. Other entities exert far more control over their hosts. Like when Parallax (Yellow Fear Entity) bonds with a person, he is 100% in control, and the host is a twisted, evil version of who they were

There are other human Green Lanterns as well such as John Stewart (who also became one of the first black superheroes. He was created in the 70's and he's the main Green Lantern in the Justice League series in the DCAU/Timmverse), Guy Gardner (a hot tempered hot headed jerk with a bold cut), Kyle Rayner (who is mostly known for wearing a big green mask that looks more like a viser or glasses) & Jessica Cruz (not only the first human female Green Lantern, that I know of at least, but also one of the newer created characters from DC Comics. She's also in the movie Justice League vs. the Fatal Five and is voiced by Diane Guerrero, mostly known as Crazy Jane in Doom Patrol, which is basically (not really though) DC's answer to X-Men). Of course there's also the golden age version, Alan Scott, but he was a different version of the character and not part of the Green Lantern Corp. lore. In 2010's they actually made Scott a gay character, but I've no idea If he still is in the comics now. There are other colored Lanterns too and they all represent different emotions, like Red Lanterns are anger and Black Lanterns are death, basically zombies with Lantern powers =P

Long ago, a writer named E E 'Doc' Smith wrote a series of novels now known as 'the Lensman series'. His basic idea of a source of power that was manipulated by the will and mental power of the wearer, and so could do almost anything was applied to an early comics character 'The Green Lantern' (Alan Scott, still a DC character, who employed a Chinese Lantern), to make the modern Green Lantern. The stories expanded as he became more powerful and learned what more he could do with his ring. Paralleling all this was Hal Jordan's relationship with one Carol Ferris, later to become his employer after inheriting Ferris Aircraft. She too gained a superpower, a purple gemstone worn on her forehead called the Star Sapphire (which took over and altered her personality some of the time, when the 'stars were right'), suggesting the stories were written by a man who was married, and introduced a sexual politics edge to the narrative. The Star Sapphire was actually the equal of the Green Lantern Ring but had other concerns than good or evil. To explain, green is yang (male), and purple is yin (female). The third colour yellow, is represented by the Weaponers of Qward, which are from another universe, working on another principle entirely, another detail from Lensman. Later Green Lanterns have come and gone, and the stories have diversified absurdly, to include every possible colour and emotion. - and people forget that Hal is the fearless 'test pilot and astronaut' type of guy, making him a hothead (Guy Gardner), or a mystic (Alan Scott, now old and gay), or stupid (redneck lantern Guy Gardner). Look for the comics 'Tales of the Green Lantern Corps' for the many, many alien Lanterns, who go from fatalist Salakk of Slyggia, to Eddore and Arisia (both name of planets in the Lensman series), to the largest (Mogo), and the hardest to spot orkzty-rrr who is a mathematical progression, and not physical at all, or Katma Tui from Sinestro's homeworld, who takes over his place in the Corps. Lots of fun to be had.

The Green Lanterns are my favorite DC Heroes. Back in the 80s when DC used to do these massive crossover/interlinked stories across multiple comic titles they did a Green Lantern focused series called "Blackest Night" (black being the lantern spectrum aligned with death.) It involved all the heroes and characters who had been killed in the comics to that point coming back from the dead as black lanterns. It was one of the greatest Lantern series of all - sadly I'm not sure it would work in other media.

The Green Lanterns are the ultimate scouts/officers, and it’s easy to see the appeal of the character. Hal Jordan is the most recognizable, but my personal favorite Green Lanterns are John Stewart and Jessica Cruz. The way Justice League in the DCAU retcons Stewart in particular is very cool. I really can’t wait for you to start watching JL and seeing just how awesome Green Lantern can be!

If you’re looking to read Green lantern comics, I recommend Green Lantern by Geoff Johns. From what I’m reading Sinestro kind of gets a redemption arc, but he has a massive forehead so I don’t know how you’ll feel about that

Comics-wise this is a hodge-podge of Green Lantern stories. Sinestro was a villain in the comics for awhile before you get a full back story. There are a few good Green Lantern arc. There the 1970's arc by Denny O'neil where he teams up with Green Arrow and the travel across America, Though officially Green Lantern's comic to two heroes shared the title for awhile. Those stories have been reprinted in collected trades. The Sinestro Corps War is a major story arc that lead to the expansion of the lanterns. The Green Lantern Animated series use some of the idea from that arc in their stories. In fact the who Geoff Johns run of the series is pretty special.

For Green Lantern comics, you really need to look for Denny O’Neil and Neil Adams Green Lantern/ Green Arrow stories. They are in a trade called “Hard Traveling Heroes”. They team up in a series of relevant early 70s stories by the creative team that reinvigorated The Batman.

My favorite pocket of the DC Universe is definitely the Green Lantern Corps. Green Lantern has been my favorite character since childhood, and I can prove it with the tattoo on my shoulder. The CGI animated series is definitely underrated and worth a watch, but any of the animated Justice League movies that include Green Lantern, especially the ones voiced by Nathan Fillion, are always a good time!

That's the point of the ring. It builds what you are thinking and you think about what you know. Other Lanterns do different kinds of constructs, like John Stewart who's a former army man and currently an architect so he crafts incredible weapons, Kyle Rayner who is an artist and it is reflected in his constructs or Guy Gardner who is a stupid jerk and his constructs seem made by a kid.

There are black (death), red (anger), orange (greed), yellow (fear), green (will), blue (hope), purple(ish) (compassion), and white (life) rings. Orange is the scariest and perhaps most powerful except for white. It draws its power from greed. There is only one orange lantern since he killed the others because he wanted all the rings for himself. Black is death that basically makes zombies. White is life, and white lanterns have all the powers of every other color except black. Blue is perhaps the weakest in raw power, but the presence of blue lanterns supercharges green lanterns.
