I know you will be very unlikely to see these comments on videos that are so old, but I just found your channel a couple of months ago. After watching your PCT series, I wanted to come back to the beginning and see how you got started in long distance hiking. I also wanted to tell you that it’s encouraging and refreshing that you are so open about your self doubts and your struggles with your outlook as you face each day. In the later videos, where I started watching, you were much more self-assured and positive. Now I see that that was a learning process. I can see that this early part of your hiking experience was hard and I love that you pushed through each day even when you were not as confident and when you were feeling alone. It’s good that you were so candid about it.

Thank you so much for this comment! It sure is a journey and so much growth has happened for me since then. This was my first ever thru hike and my first ever hike longer than 150 km, so I was so new to it! It's cool you noticed the change in me. I was thinking about going back and watching these older videos, now I'm inspired to do so! I really appreciate you watching my videos. It means so much to me!

Great question! Some days I was completely alone. But some sections near the popular fast hiking trails there would be lots of people! Generally, I’d see people on the first and last days of a section, and very few in the middle days.

At 4:28 you mention ditching your bug layers when the wind picks up. What do you use for bug layers and did you use any bug spray? I have a bug jacket but I have actually never used it (even though I almost always bring it lol) and I rely mostly on bug spray but I really don't like how sticky bug spray makes my skin feel.

Hey you are really brave to go alone into the wild. I think it's quite normal reactions you gave. The loneliness can be scary. You have to remind yourself that the world we life in other people are always around the corner. And if not, the safety of a home makes up for that. Also may I ask what you do for filtering your water?
