Great video. Post wasn't popping back up, and I think it was because the sealed cartridge wasn't screwed properly into the top of the shaft. Thanks to you I was able to take it apart, clean it and reassemble. Now my post is nice and snappy!

2:40 Yep I've used pliers through old inner tube....and damaged it. Plier teeths cut through the tube. Bit of very fine sand paper and it works for now, but make yourself a vice thingy by drilling correct diameter hole in a block of wood and then cutting the block in half through the middle of the hole-lengthwise- and use metal cutting blade in a hand saw. Same can be done with the post jaw, but using bigger hole. As he said if more grip will be required put inner tube into wooden jaw.

Thanks KS Suspension for doing proper service videos, keep them coming, the world isn't completely full of people affraid to do maintenance themselves. Hapy owner of E20i 150mm. Just some top cap unscrewing problems but stock dropper still works after 1400km, besides that, it works even in around 0 centigrade. But I was supposed to do 1st service at 1000km and it needs it now to stay "healthy"

I have the e20i dropper post and had to service mine today. The top cap (clamp head) is really a design fail. I wonder what were engineers thinking on this one. The thing is it's really hard to screw it in and very easy to unscrew when sitting on the bike. Especially when you push with your right thigh to the left (e.g. doing a wheelie or some jumping around). I was thinking of using thread locker to glue it more together. But other than that it went through some beating and downhill fun and it's still ok after a year (all-year rides).

@@matoatlantis that top nut on the stanchion (I should have called it) needs tightening more than hand tight. Then it's golden and won't undo. Thread lock carries a risk of not being able to unscrew it when you need to, due to slippery surface.
@matoatlantis4 жыл бұрын
@@polishguywithhardtospellna8227 Yeah, it did cross my mind that thread locker could do more damage than help. I guess I need to make a tool that can hold the shaft so I can screw the clamp head. As I was servicing the dropper post my saddle was already mounted on the clamp head. Mounting the clamp onto the dropper post was the last step during the assembly. According to KS docs "mast shaft" is the outer shaft, "shaft" is the inner one. I screwed the clamp into shaft by hand. Then I took the shaft, went near the table and rotated the shaft in my hands so that saddle hit the table. I did it gently but with enough force to screw the clamp. I know, not ideal.. I tested it today on a trail and didn't encounter any problems.. at least for now.. The saddle first rotated (well, clamp on the dropper post did) after a month of usage when I bought it new. When I went to a shop where I bought it guy there actually screwed it back and used the saddle as a leverage (he hit it back by turning the saddle clockwise). Problem is when dropper post is on a bike (mast shaft clamped in) if you rotate the saddle you are transferring the torque into guide pins ("guide bushings"). And they are not built for this. This info maybe useful for others, dunno ..

Lol, love the way he seal collar comes off in the video ad if it's that easy in real life. Had to give up on my dropper post and buy new as the collar wouldn't budge at all. Used penetrant, heat, you name it, totally seized beyond repair

Great vid, had the same plenty of play and 10mm of sag on 3month old 909. Seemed like one of the rods wasn't in place. All serviced and working better than new.

How do you control the speed of this thing going back up? Is there air pressure chamber?

My bike had been in storage for years. Getting it ready for a ride tomorrow and the seat drops easy enough but will only raise a few inches. What's the most common cause here? Seems to me it's lost hydraulic pressure.

I have a 2017-E30iS dropper and I am trying to fit the Lower Guide Bushing(PTFE) (Part #P26003) I can't get the new bushings to fit into the guide slots so that the stanchion be assembled back into the seat post mast. All of the general maintenance videos show a full length copper guide bushing rather than a copper and PFTE busing combination. Hopefully there is some kind of trick to press fit the PFTE guide bushings into the stanchion. It would be great to see a demonstration.

Is the e30i the same as the e10i in terms of disassembly? And when putting it back together is there any air you need to put in or should it just work?

Hello, I did everything but it doesn't really work, it still bloks, it goes down but when I want to make it move up i must help it with my hand, it's if like it needs pressure! Can you dismantle the other block and show us how can we clean it inside or may be it needs some oil or something else? Thanks

great video; but i have a question; my dropper goes down during the ride; maybe it has pressure problems?
@dannylinders61572 жыл бұрын
It is most likely bad cables. Either bent or too much friction. Replace the cables and you should be good.

Crux-i came stock on my bike, after about 400 km the post has developed a slight sag when I sit. No authorised dealers-distributors in my country. Any recommendations?

Forgot to update... Took it to the shop and they sent it to the UK dealer where it was repaired/rebuilt. Took a while but but they fixed it no questions asked, only receipt was necessary.

Besides some proprietary grease, what can I use to regrease it? I only have marine grease atm. What could I pick up for cheap at the local car parts store?

I have same problem with new eTen-i seatpost, how to fix it?
@WattWireNet5 жыл бұрын
I'm also having the same problem with me eTen-i. I ride a lot and it lasted about 15 months. I think I'm going to have to replace the sealed cartridge. I sure wish he would have mentioned or showed how to take it out (hopefully he could have just pulled it out). For my 125mm model, I found this part: www.bikeman.com/ST7105.html

For anyone reading this, I also had this problem and it was because my cable's barrel adjuster kept tightening itself, causing the cable to always be slightly triggering the post actuator. I back it off and taped it in place and it never gave me trouble after that.

Most of the time this has to do with cable issues. I had the same issue and was sure that my cartridge must've been bad but I replaced the cable and greased the internals I haven't had any issues on my eten-i since.
