I've had people talk me out of trading all my kaspa for miner rigs, even though i'd break even in six or seven months. they're claiming that the favor is in holding the coins. I don't know. I see value in owning the means of production and future monthly cashflow.

Yes, but it might not be worth it to do that. You can run most ASICs on unmineable to get paid out in w/e coin you want.

Your video talks about how it would have been better to simply buy the coin directly and that's why I somewhat gave up mining (all kinds) since 2022. It's less hassle and with mining, you are limited to how much you can mine per day. In other words, you have a cap of how much profit you can sell kaspa for. Not only that, but maintainance and keeping your building cool is another factor. Things break and will require your attention or at the very least, constant adjustment and swapping coins (talking about entire mining in general and not just asics)

For the new DR7 its important to remember that there was 60 Petahash or more on Decred when it was blake256r14 algo. So all that will spill over to SCP when they changeover.

This was my biggest mistake ksm3. It started problem within 3 weeks . Past 2 months with faulty hashboard that barely hashed. Don’t even think I am even close to break even. And iceriver never even open my support ticket or responded.😢

I'd be very happy with $10/day profit currently. When price appreciation, profit/day will go up as well as the price of the hardware. Mine to the top area of the bull market, sell both coin and HW = Profit.

You could have purchased 81,900 Kaspa instead. In my eyes, you haven’t ROId until you mine the amount of coin you could have just purchased instead. That 81,900 Kaspa would be worth nealry 15,000usd today. So anyone that purchased this in January is actually still down $6,000usd in lost gains. These numbers are probably way worse though considering if you received it In January you probably made the purchase in November 2023

^^ Exactly. I think it's fair to say he hasn't "lost" money. However, until he mines the amount of coins the purchase would've paid for on the date he bought the miner, he's lost opportunity cost. Assuming he did actually buy the thing and it wasn't free from a vendor.
