I Like the Smashing Pumpkins era of The Pineapple Thief, but the soft proggy era is brilliant

I was just going to comment that they sound a lot like the Smashing Pimpkins here

Genius at early stage. I can only regret that I have discovered his music so late. I am on the track now though 😉👍 Keep it up Bruce & Co.

Not sure if it's just me or familiarity but I prefer the original mix. This version isn't bad by any stretch of the imagination. The sound in this mix is possibly a little more balanced & some of the little intricacies & effects stand out more but it feels a tad too clean & lacks the warmth of the original. It's good they've reissued it as it's my favourite album by them & more people should hear it. I'm just more inclined & glad I have a copy of the original to listen to.
@BlutUndEhre882 жыл бұрын
Where can I find the original mix? I've only been listening to the remastered version.
@crimsonkate82412 жыл бұрын
@@BlutUndEhre88 I'm not sure these days, I first got a copy off Utorrent back in the 2000's. Eventually I paid stupid money for a pre-owned copy (about £60) as there was only a few thousand issued with the original release. The only options I can think of would be scouring KZbin to see if the old versions have been uploaded. Or me literally emailing you the MP3 files lol.

@@crimsonkate8241 yea I managed to get my hands on an original copy of abducting the Unicorn recently and man the eBay price was ABSURD. Tbh I really prefer The original mix and how it’s apparent they’re using a drum machine. I saw an ancient post on some old forum about how even back in the 2000s you had to order them from the record label and have it shipped from the UK because they just didn’t have a following here in the states.
@crimsonkate82412 жыл бұрын
@@PointlessEndeavor-h1x Awesome, though i don't want to know how much you had to pay these days lol. If i'd bought mine a couple of years earlier it would have been a less than half of what I eventually paid. Good to hear I'm not the only one that prefers the classic mix too. Though I'm not musically educated & had never noticed the drum machine lol. I remember reading that the first too albums were recorded with session musicians as there were some legal wranglings with Bruce's contract. Which I think led to them not touring until the third albums release. That's probably why they're relatively unkown, & why I assumed the drums were played by one of the session musicians. If you could point out specific tracks for me to pay attention to that would be cool. Though on writing this I'm imaging "No one leaves this earth" & "Everyone must perish" would be the most obvious examples. The one thing that always stood out to me about the first few albums was the basslines. They always felt a little bit more developed than the later works & maybe that was another benefit of the session musician handling them. Anyhoo, thanks for the response, & apologies for my delayed one & the length of it. Not often you get a chance to chat about PT lol. All the best! :)

@stephantelm49223 жыл бұрын
Nope. You Gavin-obsessed people have a one-track mind. There is more to the band than a drummer. In fact, they were a band long before Gavin joined. Try listening to Bruce who actually writes the music.
