Actually Kenny approached Lionel in Las Vegas and ask him to write a song a greatest hits album. Lionel didn't want to until he found the number of expected album sales. He already had the title and music. The Commadores didn't want to do it. He wrote the first verse and Kenny finished recording it. They were waiting for the second verse, Lionel was in the bathroom and wrote the second verse. One of his biggest songs. This was told by Kenny at tribute concert for Lionel Richie.

Lionel was interviewed many years ago and he said that Kenny Rogers asked him to write a song, he wanted to sing one of Lionel songs and it went on for a few years and then he said Kenny Rogers was telling him about his wife that she’s such a lady. She’s a great lady. lady this and lady that. Well turns out Lionel had a song titled baby. But when he presented the song to Kenny He changed the title to lady lollll and Kenny Rogers loved it and mad history with this huge hit. Lionel also Lived in a cottage on Kenny’s estate for some time and they remained life long friends until Kenny’s death. Thanks for such an entertaining video
