There are too many singers that think always belting, always doing runs is the way to go, but tis not. When you sing quietly, intensely, with meaning and emotion it makes everyone lean in and quiet down to hear you. Beautiful.

Check out Kenny singing with the first edition. Song is just stopped in to see what condition my condition is in. And he had brown hair started out in rock moved over as a solo singing country. And no he has passed after an illness. Another song you can listen to is Island in the stream with Dolly Parton. And back in the day they had to have the voice nothing to fix it. Now most if you required them to sing without auto tune and all the other fix em up wouldn’t sell records.

This is so good! I remember in 1966 Kenny was in a 10 piece group called the New Christy Minstrels, under the direction of Randy Sparks. They sang all kinds of music with guitars, string bass, banjo etc. Then in 1967 Kenny & several others from the New Christy Minstrels left the group and started Kenny Rogers & the First Edition. I loved their hit, "Just Dropped In, To See What Condition My Condition Was In" more of a pop song & "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town" considered country and many others until they broke up in1975 or 76. You won't go wrong with anything Kenny sings!

Yes, Kenny started out with brown hair. He actually began as a rock and roll singer. He was with the group "The First Edition" when I first heard him back in the 1960s. You need to listen to "Kenny Rogers and the First Edition" doing songs like "I Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition was in)," "Reuben James" and "Something's Burning." They are great songs and made an impression on me as a would-be performer at the time. To this day I still perform all of these songs. Then you can introduce them to Black Pegasus and get a leg up on him. LOL

Kenny started out with sandy blonde hair and grew into brown in his 20-30's. Jokingly Dolly (Parton) said that she noticed Kenny went gray when she started working with him! Kenny could basically sing any genre in his natural talent. He was an excellent studio artist, and an even better live performer. He set the benchmark of what true artistry is, and even with all that, he was a fabulous human being; the real deal. His honesty and purity of heart always amazed me. He was tremendously tenderhearted and caring. If he loved you, it was for a lifetime. And I believe that extends through eternity. Yes; sadly Kenneth Ray passed away on 03.20.20. And every day he is missed! His joking around, his piercing eyes, and the way the man talked. There was always something so captivating about him. Kenny held my attention and imprinted my heart forever 💓💋🎶🕊️🙏💐

Kenny Rogers definitely had brown hair before it turned white. In 1970 I saw him in Atlantic City when he was singing with a group called The First Edition. He also wore tinted glasses at the time. He used that gravely voice a lot. I saw him several more times over the years and he always put on a great show. Love, love, love Kenny. I also am enjoying your reactions as well Krizz. Looking forward to many more.

I saw Kenny twice in concert. It was great! I saw Kenny and Dolly Parton tour.. so special. Kenny Rogers and the First Edition was the group he was in before becoming a solo artist. Just Dropped In was considered acid rock. Kenny with long brown hair, a gold earring, rose tinted glasses and playing the bass guitar. What could be better?

Kenny was just 42 when he performed this concert! Kenny was born in 1938 and this song was released in 1980! He was a silver fox for sure... no matter how young he was! Kenny said that he loved how Ray Charles would sing R&B to a country song, so he wanted to flip that and sing country to an R&B track! That's when he called Lionel to write a song for him! Kenny and Lionel performed Lady together at a concert in 2013 that honored Lionel, and had all of these country artists singing Lionel's music! It was just after Lionel released his Tuskegee album which had those artists singing with Lionel, or on their own. When it came time for Kenny to sing Lady, Kenny told the hilarious story of how 'Lady' was written and then asked Lionel to come on stage and sing it with him. It is the best they have ever sounded together! You should definitely check it out! They're the BEST of friends from the day they met and you can definitely see that in their performance! Check out that 2013 performance... I promise you won't be disappointed! You can find it here on KZbin! Oh, and may I suggest that you do a reaction to We Are the World - USA for Africa (1985), and also We Are the World 25 - Artists for Haiti (2010)! I don't know how familiar you are with either version of this song, but would love to hear your thoughts on them and see how many artists you can name from the original! I'm sure you must know most or all of the artists from the newer version. Also, Netflix put out a documentary about the original version this year that is a must-see, especially for music lovers like me! It's called The Greatest Night in Pop (2024)! There is also an old tv special they put out when the original song came out. It was hosted and narrated by Jane Fonda! Check that one out here on KZbin! I know your channel is for the music reactions, bit I'd love to see you react to the new Netflix special! So many of the original artists came back to tell their stories! Definitely a must-see... even if you don't film it for a reaction! Just spreading the love of incredible music!

I know you like story songs. A few songs by Kenny you will love. "Coward of the County" "Long arm of the law," "The gambler," "The Greatest" "She believes in me," "Sweet music man," Kenny wrote this song. Kenny has many great songs. Another song with the first addition is "Ruby, don't take your love to town." This song was written by the Country Legend Mel Tillis. Mel shuddered when he talked. But boy could he sing perfectly. Kenny sang duets with many female artists. Dottie West, Dolly Parton, Kim Carnes, & Sheena Easton. I loved his duets with Dottie West. But most people have forgotten he sang with Dottie, for they only talk about Dolly, Kim or Sheena.

Yes Kenny passed on a couple of yrs. ago. He is a legend. Now that you've watched this I want to suggest the you watch Kenny sing this with Lionel Richie some 30 yrs. later.. Listen to the whole video where Kenny explains how this song came to be written. Its a funny true story. They were the best of friends. Kenny was a country artist but this song crossed him over into R&B. Kenny started out in the 60's with a group called *The New Christy Minstrals. He left them and went to a group called *The First Edition. Check out this one from them called " I Just Stopped in to See What Condition My Condition Was In" and "Reuben James". Kenny left this group for a solo career. The Gambler, Lucille, Ruby, Coward of The County, then these cross over songs: Through The Years, We've Got Tonight ( he recorded this with Sheena Easton but he and Dolly Parton sang it together and its better because he and dolly have a great chemistry ( see video) ). A must see is Kenny and Dolly singing: Islands In The Stream (video). ( this song was written by The Bee Gees). You will need to also go down the Dolly Parton and Bee Gees rabbit holes. The Bee Gees recorded tons of songs but also wrote for many other artists too, like Barbra Streisand and Celine Dion and their brother Andy ( who had a solo career).
