We watched the boy’s interrogation video last night. The detective had no clue how to talk to or deal with a 4-year-old. Extremely frustrating to watch.

Susan obviously didn’t get a happy ending, but the lessons learned in her case have helped save countless others. I still hope that she will be found, unlikely as that is.

Just today, when a picture of that house fire came across my feed after many years, it suddenly crossed my mind that maybe Susan never left that house in the first place. It's been a long time since I've revisited this case but I do not recall ever having the thought that she was inside that house all along. Now I'm going to have to go back down the rabbit hole that I haven't visited in over a decade!! But it makes sense that she'd be there. The whole camping in a blizzard and making smores for one night story was likely a cover up to throw off the police (which worked pretty well since he'd prep'd the boys on what to say and they complied, probably because they were used to being manipulated and told what to say). In any case, it does leave questions as to why Josh decided to blow up that house. Did did he want to cover up evidence, reveal her body, keep the family 'together' (if her body was there), to give the cops the middle finger, because he couldn't risk leaving the boys behind to eventually tell the truth, or to assert ultimate control of the fate of his family? Hard to know for sure. Maybe all of those things. Maybe something altogether different. He and his whole family were weird as f so who knows what was really going on. At this point, I don't think it really matters, nor does anyone care. All most people care about is those boys and Susan. The only need to look at Josh further is to figure out where Susan is. Nothing more. I do hope Susan wasn't in that house when it burned and we find her remains someday so that at least her family can have some sense of peace, whatever that looks like for them. Poor souls.
@thomasingebrigtsen1948
@thomasingebrigtsen1948 Ай бұрын
They lived in a different house when she went missing but you're right maybe she is in the house in West Valley
@Yosetime
@Yosetime Ай бұрын
@@thomasingebrigtsen1948 I forgot about that! It would be nice if she was in the old house, but I doubt it. Because if my hunch about why Josh blew up the house is correct, in that he wanted to keep all four of them together (the control thing), then he would have wanted her body close to him at all times right from the beginning. Which makes it more likely that she had been kept either at the old house or at his Dad's house, somewhere nearby at least, while everyone was looking for her everywhere but there. But that also means he would have either taken her body with him to the new place when he first moved, or from his Dad's place perhaps just before the fire. But I do feel like he would have wanted her body in that house when he blew it up. It would have made Josh feel quite smug knowing that he had control of her body that whole time, fooling everyone. Gosh, he'd do that. I still hope the cops have checked the old house and his Dad's place thoroughly. But what if her ashes were in the exploded house and nobody was looking for them? That's a terrible thought. Geez I have to stop thinking about this, it's getting more and more distressing! Thanks for letting me know about the old house. I'd forgotten about that a long time ago.

I always thought it was odd that police searched the area where Josh claimed to have camped. Josh obviously created an alibi by talking to a man while driving in the snow right around there. He wanted police to verify that, which they did. I highly doubt Josh led them anywhere near the real truth of where they might possibly find Susan. Imo, he led them on a wild goose chase

Classic case of domestic abuse and what women and, by association her children, have to endure. It is not as easy as just leaving with the children, it is far more complicated than that. This case shows it. Her husband was in control all the way through, even after, her murder. He wanted to control his children and their well being. Now they are all dead. Tragic. Common sense tells us he murdered her, no doubt about that. Police need to ramp up their investigations into these cases in future.

My first impression after hearing of thebeautiful crystals growing was a cave. I don't know if there are many in Utah. Water and beach can be found in caves also. Unfortunately a psychologist old me once that you can tell a kid 10_11 times they have been in a place, seen something, etc, they fully believe they have been there, seen it, etc. The Dad could have told the boys whatever story over and over until they believed it as truth.

Someone said on another video in the comments, they wonder if Susan would of left Josh had she not been Mormon, my answer to that would now be yes, I think she would of and the reason I think that. If this happened in 2024 instead of when it did, there would be so much more coverage of it today because of the religion, how often are we seeing this now, all the time! . This is probably a great case to look into again because they little boys would still be here had Josh Powell of been charged under circumstantial evidence. It's crazy that more people are not bringing this up, well done to this channel. I think another channel should though, what a great idea, because this is the worst failure at protecting two kids with an already missing /presumed dead mother, surely now is the time to talk about how you tube could bring so much more to maybe help even solve this case. I mean the video she left, the evidence was unreal. That would have all been looked into today - fact

all the evidence shows he likely left the body in a quarry on the Wendover road to Utah. (it was abandoned). He then hired a car at the airport after the cops took the van from him. so the body may have been there under a white sheet or whatever, under snow , for 20 hrs or so. His Phone was shut down at the time he was using this rental car. He pay have picked up the body and dumped it in Idaho. He would have got 100km or so inside the Idaho border given the round trip distance on the Rental's odometer. If the body gets found in Idaho - there's no death penalty there. There is and was a Death Pen there Utah now and at the time. So Idaho is a place to go for - the state has to prove that the homicide occurred out of state. Utah would have problems prosecuting such a case. JOsh bought a new cell phone in Nth part of Salt lake city , after he was back from where he went. The timing of the purchase is known. He never explained where his earlier phone went. Josh went to a huge effort to lay a red herring trail around mines or open space in Nth Utah.

These people sound kinda clueless about actual domestic violence situations. It's hardly ever just one sided. And there are deep childhood trauma related issues relating to why these people both abuse and sign up for a relationship that is abusive. Just giving someone a place to stay or even some encouragement is just a bandaid. They will likely find another abusive man anyway.
