If it's fear for one or another's physical safety then people have every right to defend themselves. These kids will learn the hard way. I would never say someone has to get shot to wait and find out if it's a real gun being pulled on them or not.

They're basically playing manhunt which was a game we used to play in the 80s. The only difference is that our squirt guns looked like squirt guns, and we never went further than our own street. Then again, the world wasn't as crazy

In the mid 80’s a good portion of my high school played a version of this. I was hanging out in our local comic book shop one sat when two of my buddies, also regulars at the shop, rolled in with full camouflage to get me. One of them had the limbs of a bush strapped to him self to “blend in🙄”. The guy running the shop was reaching for his weapon when he realized that I was getting hosed down with a water pistol, close. I’m stunned anything like this is being attempted today. We had a lot of fun, but that was over 30 yrs ago. The school and the police shut it down as soon as they figured out what was going on.

I mean why are they walking in other peoples back yards as part of a game? Why do they feel that is ok? And a lot of those squirt guns look like traditional real guns. And now they are making these designer guns that are pink, etc. I am a second amendment rights person. My father was a military marksman and safety freak. And when it came to weapons in and around our house, there were strict safety rules. And I do not ever remember just simply going in and getting one of my father’s weapons from their secure storage. He had to actually be with us and working with us at a target range. He made us treat toy weapons like they were real. I just cannot imagine that these kids think this is ok. I know it is common to shoot water pistols at people in fun. But in reality we do not live in that kind of world. And no plastic, real or fake gun, if it shoots water, pepper spray balls, pellets, or whatever should ever be aimed at another human being unless you are in a life threatening situation and need to protect yourself. And then it better not be any water pistol.

I remember playing this game in high school back in 1987. The big differences from then to now, we respected private property (that wasn't our familys, of course), and we contacted the local police ahead of time they had a heads up in case any calls came in.

Strange days indeed! A water gun can get you KILLED. Several years ago some guys showed up outside our building. They were all dressed in black, and after a few minutes of chatting they all donned black ski masks. It was pretty scary. The cops were called, and they showed up FAST, possibly because there was a recent shooting at one of our other corporate locations. We learned later that the men were groomsmen playing a pre-marriage prank on their friend who was getting married. They were planning to "kidnap" him and take him away for the weekend.
