Krog TV I am having SO MUCH fun flying the kraken killer PLEASE make more. You should maybe try experimenting with forward facing props and see if you van get enough thrust out to justify the added complexity and weight. I would love to see one of these things go supersonic haha. But seriously though. More stuff like the kraken killer please I can't wait.

Which would be more efficient in any of your opinions? A fixed pitch copter that increases or decreases power to climb or descend or a variable pitch copter that changes blade angle to change elevation?

Strictly speaking efficiency, having easy control over the blade pitch would be by far the best option as its what real helicopters do. To do that you'd have to have a swash plate which I have seen done on stock KSP, albeit with extreme complexity and low reliability! The Kermansky Kopters simply increase power to climb and keep that blade fixed.

I do believe you could use deploy action groups on the rotors for that. It wouldn't use a swash plate like a normal helicopter but it would be somewhat similar.

Is it still a helicopter if it has jets pushing it forwards? More like a half gyro copter / helicopter

Bzorlan You can take off the forward thrust jets and it still works

The KM-75 has an "autogyro" mode, if you fly forward with the jets the air resistance will spin the blades backwards automatically and create lift for flying. When you hit the main engines though, it converts back into a standard chopper and spins the blades in the reverse direction (counter-clockwise in this case). The Kraken Killer is actually pretty poor at auto-gyrating though.

It's called a helicopter with turboprop engines. Jet engines power the blades instead of creating their own thrust. Its actually a real thing but is more commonly used in airplanes.

notfeedy notlazy , Turboshaft helicopters are more efficient at flying than if you were point their jets straight down. As of now, Turboprop planes are incredibly inefficient, but they fly!

I've been trying to replicate your engine but I'm stuck on one part. I managed to offset the antennae to the top of the propeller using part-clipping but I can't do the same for the solar panels as they are radially attached (opposed to the node attachment of the antenna). Could you at least share how you did that?

Update! Ran out of options and edited the solar panels position in the craft file. Takes some time to adjust but works. Is that the same thing you did?

The instructions are on the download page but: 1. Press Launch Vehicle 2. Press 1 to unlock rotors 3. Press 2 to turn on rotors, Z for full throttle 4. Press 3 to begin hovering 5 Toggle button 4 for forward engines and 5 for afterburner

i pressed all the buttons. it did not go up. i don't *think* that any of my mods affect physics in any way. i will try it in a clean install. edit: After a quick try in the stock game, I checked ckan again, and found ferram in my mods list. Issue solved!
