Few thoughts: 1. The stock system you tested here (and which was an accidental good thing BTW since it illustrated the difference between it and the PEBKAC ones) actually CAN save your command pod from a near-ground-level abort on the pad: the trick is to let the pod coast to the top of it's trajectory before deploying the parachutes (and have plenty of parachutes). 2. You CAN make the stock LES tower separate from the pod by either fitting a decoupler or attaching it to a docking node and using 'decouple node' rather than 'undock node'. I usually put this, and 'jettison heatshield' on the BRAKES action group along with 'deploy parachutes'. of course, the PEBKAC ones are still better options since they do the same thing with a reduced part count and can loft a bigger capsule assembly. 2. On the PEBKAC model that covers the whole pod, Apollo-style, how do you fit parachutes to the pod?

Hi, Kottabos! I am the author of this mod. Thanks so much for the very kind review! The shortcomings of the stock part are the reason I made this. And yes, they are modeled directly after the NASA Apollo and Mercury systems. There are example craft in the mod download that show how I generally use them with stock parts to attach parachutes, etc. Again, thanks for the review!

The les in the mod were the ones used on actual NASA rockets, the one for the mk1 pod was used on the murcury flights were as the other two were for the apollo moon missions. The one with the cover does the same process as the real life Saturn five les. Cool mod . Need this for my Saturn V repleca.

ok, this mod is super useful but then again if you can revert to launch or the vab you don’t strictly need it unless you loaded a quick save. Then it’s very useful if things go wrong

thes escap rokets were used on saturn v and when it left the atmosphere it did the same thing but detachd when it did becaus thay did not need it enymore
