When you jetpacked through the spinning rings of your station, I remembered years ago playing Star Citizen and trying to race whatever ship I was using at the time to race through the station's rings. It felt so good to dodge, dive, and roll through them.

Hey Matt when the 2.5 meter solid rocket booster comes out in 1.8 you can also made a less known rocket produced by NASA called the “Ares 1X” it’s first stage was just a solid rocket.

​@@DanteofSparda5376 don't use 'rigid attachment' and struts on the same parts, use struts on the 'soft' parts connected to rigid parts. This fixed a lot of my random implosions with large ships

@@seucheanemone5652 It's actually easy to modify the game to create and add a really nice SABRE engine with the models from the RAPIER =) (At least, I have some SABREs on my KSP 1.3.1, I made them by myself, and with TweakScale, it works great)

A tip for docking, if you use the new manuever view at the bottom left of the screen you can see the closest approach without going to map view and align the docking oorts that way.

Had to rebuild my save. The KSS as I call it sits out between Minmus and the Mun. It's used for science but mainly it's the Hub for the Kerbin system and my primary space dock. This way I can avoid the gravity well of Kerbin. Just wished BT Armory didn't make a muck on this one. I have to go back and rebuild those crafts. Seems I mysteriously lost entire stages. Check for debris and didn't have any. Now, I have to think about the KSS in a bit to figure out how am going to rebuild it since I pulled out all life support. 33 years of O2 for two people on a station designed for 50 runs out in a week. Just couldn't deal with that bug. Of course when I launched MGP 1 (Mars Gravity Probe). It really went a much after the first stage separation. On that one I had allot of solids on the first stage (two stacks on a 7.5m tank), second stage and the four boosters (5.0m tanks). I think its the 2.5m solid ones you have been waiting on which has been in a different mod. There were 36 of those. Anyhow, second stage and the solids on it fired up then I ended up in wrap speed (had to be a game engine glitch). I was at 50km and ended up at Minmus in 10 seconds. Just wished I recorded it. But it was a joke flight at the time.

The bouncing is because your centre of mass is so far back. With long skinny ships, you really need to make sure you're facing dead straight into the docking port, because when your ship tries to straighten up to dock, it pivots from the centre of mass, so with a long ship that will throw drastically to one side.

The docking ricochet effect of caused by your SAS trying to rotate the ship against the force of the magnets on the docking ports, causing it to bounce off of the station you're trying to dock to. You might wanna disable the SAS just seconds before the docking ports get close enough to actually interact.

Challenge: build a spaceplane large enough to carry 1000 kerbals, complete set of mining and science equipment, and large enough to fit the entire SPH inside the ship! No tweakscale and no hanger extension allowed!

Never understood docking until I figured out that the jkli buttions controlled up, down, left, right, and hn was forwards and back, and to keep the prograde marker centered on the target screen. Makes much sense now.

have you considered using the docking port alignment indicator mod to help with, well, docking? It gives you a little GUI that helps get you aligned perfectly with whichever docking port you're using, so (in theory) no more being flying into space by the picky physics. I can't start up a run of the game these days without installing it because of how helpful it is, and you'd probably definitely get some use out of it with how many stations you make. Great video, by the way.

Real aircraft actually do skid left and right quite a lot on takeoff and landing, but huge commercial jets don’t get it that bad which is how the pilots control it and stop it happening quite easily, but in other aircraft, it happens quite a lot and is more difficult to reduce

Try using fine controls when docking, it automatically corrects any thrust/CoG imbalances, and will require less correction if you thrust to much.
