Amazing work guys. I'm assuming these trees aren't for harvest. Are you looking at getting some form of protection for the site ?

The trees are definitely not for harvesting, though some thinning is expected to be required of the Kauri trees in year 25 and year 80. I haven't considered any formal protection for the forest. Its existence and significance should afford it protection.

A really odd project. Not quite pine but not an endemic species, just a newer version of a grand Victorian exotic garden. Why not invest your time and effort into restoring the local ecology?

The transformation from pasture to indigenous forest, with more than 30 varieties of trees and plants endemic to coastal Otago, will provide greater support of indigenous fauna, and be a positive contribution to the local ecology.
