In the heart of Houston’s vibrant Galleria area exists the broadcast point for the soul of rock and the spirit of alternative. For over 20 years, Rock and Alternative KTBZ-FM, Houston’s 94-5 The Buzz, has been the premiere destination for those that like a symphony of raw electric guitars, pounding drums, and music that defines the sound of those that prefer to stand-apart. From small beginnings great things have grown for the Buzz into the biggest year yet for the Buzz.
2023 brought the biggest AQH Share across all key demos since the station’s inception, averaging the year #1 in the market with P18-34, and #2 with P25-54, behind sister Station KODA, the biggest cuming station in Texas. The Buzz has become the place to listen to through the day anchored by the success of our local morning show. For 2023, The Buzz morning show ranked #1 with 6+, 12+, 18+, as well as ranking 1st or 2nd with all male and female key demos. The ratings success was made more special in 2023 as morning show talent, Rod Ryan, completed his 20th year hosting mornings on 94.5 The Buzz.
Our success draws on our mission to serve and entertain the Houston area, while following our values of companionship, inclusion, positivity, all while communicating in a ‘light, bright, and tight’ manner. You’ll find the Buzz raising money for charities for MD Anderson breast and cancer research, supplying backpacks for school children, supporting adaptive activities for physically challenged, and at blood drives, and animal shelters. Additionally, our new partnership in 2023 hosting the St. Jude Radiothon in December helped our cluster raised over $1 million.
Winning a Marconi would top off what was an incredible year for the Buzz.
