95% of L.A. county is natural habitat. You have no idea what you're talking about. The Santa Monica Mountains is over 30 miles along that coastline and at least 10 miles inland, and then there are many ranges beyond that, that are 100s of square miles. The fire is a natural occurance, the people residing there is an unnatural occurance. I know, I live in L.A. county.

There also needs to be a "Separation of residential water system and fire systems".... With thousands of homes and businesses using water at the same time as the fire department; on the same water lines; that is utterly insane..........There also needs to be limits on vegetation around homes and businesses to keep fires from spreading as well as "hardening of structures against easily bursting into flames from wind-driven embers". There are many reasons these fires were so devastating; and it is sad to see lawyers and politicians rushing to capitalize on a tragedy of this scale for political and financial gain.......Sick and sad.....

I lived in the mountains of the Motherlode for 44 years survived 3 wildfires, had one home destroyed 34 years ago, and saved my other house in 2015. Its fair to say that one of those spots wont catch fire for another 30 years, but am willing to bet that the first one is primed to burn. The Sierra Nevada Mountains goes from Tehachapi through Weed, CA. The whole mountain is steep, treacherous and its all a tinderbox just waiting for fires. Arsonists always get caught and always serve the rest of their lives in prison. However, Newsom is a crook and in the Pocket of PGE, our electric company to te north. They have been guilty of fires up here many times. Killed 100's. Newsom bailed them out of paying us big time an continue to either have tansformers cath fire STILL, or under Newsom's policy, will shut off our power if they so much feel the wind of a bullfrog's fart come their way. This state is the circus and the leaders are clowns.

They have video of how the fire spread and how long it took to get a response. For those writing in the comments who haven't seen that, please go watch it. Then you'll understand why "the response" is being questioned. Could they have had a faster response when the call first came in, when the first smoke was spotted...that is the question. Critical failure of government. California pays the highest taxes yet can’t get water to fight fires nor hire staff to manage the forests, parks, and trails.
@georgemetz72772 сағат бұрын
Always more taxes, buy more stuff, hire more people, enact more regulations! You know the Federal Government owns almost half of California and manages the forest with the US Forest Service. The Camp Fire in 2018 started on federal land and started by downed PG&E lines. Is it possible real estate developers should not be building so much? When insurance companies pull out that should tell you something - don't build there! This was not a forest fire. It started in the hills where it is so steep I can't imagine "raking" and it's just bone dry chaparral. The winds gusted up to a hundred mph and could carry embers miles away. Thousands of structures on fire all at the same time. Imagine hundreds of people with hoses. The full water tanks lost pressure. Then not able to rely on the usual aerial assault due to winds. They say it takes three trucks to extinguish one house fire. Now multiply by thousands. But hey, Newsom is done in '26 so it's time for the next Republican governor to start campaigning. Good luck with that.

I have heard that there’s not enough fire truck mechanics to repair the millions of dollars worth of fire trucks that are sitting idle on the ground; the city needs to restore the funding for the fire department and have a jobs fair for healthy young men and women who have the motivation to become fire truck mechanics and the prisoners who are being paid ten dollars a day to fight the wildfires should be paid $200 a day and their prison sentences should be immediately suspended and they should be given the opportunity to become fire truck mechanics or firefighters and they would receive massive housing subsidies for at least two years and be given a new vehicle to drive to work.
