What It happened to me was that the nut of the drain plug was too hard so I rounded It... Good repair work!!
@Brayne014 жыл бұрын
This seems to be a weakness of the drain plug - They are supposed to be tightened with 20Nm but seem to seize more often and when that happens the few millimeters of support for the nut are just not enough.

I'm in a similar bind. I cross threaded the drain cap and fucked up the first couple threads at least. The cap would no longer run in straight. I tried retapping the threads with an M20x1.5 tap, which appeared to work, but the cap is leaking now, so obviously oil is getting past the recut threads and o ring. Did you have any leaking problems after finishing this job. I think a Time-Sert kit is going to be my plan B. If you can share your post-repair results, I'd be grateful. Thanks!

It's still working great, I still have the bike, It's the best bike I've ever owned and I don't plan on ever selling it. I would do this again if I had to. The Time-sert kit was $250. Glad to help.

@@ToddTube1 Thanks for the reply, Todd. That's reassuring. I think the Time-Sert (now $270) will have to be my next step. I really bummed that retapping the existing threads didn't do the trick. It's ridable but slowly dripping. I appreciate you posting this video.

WTF are you doing ??? This is a brand new bike

nicholas green I had numerous reasons for doing this, I decided I didn't want my bike molested by some 22-year-old kid at the dealer Who was going to remove the motor and ship it off to another state to be looked at and possibly rebuilt and I didn't want to wait forever to get my bike back and it's better than it was new now.
