KTM 250 Motor inspection

Hello, Guys! Here you'll see disassembly and quick inspection of KTM SXF 250 engine. In previous videos you can see how that engine operates. Because of that engine was disassembly. There are a lot of worn parts like camshafts, camchain, piston, cylinder and etc.

Yeah. And piston/cylinder clearance is to big, more than 0.4mm ( normal clearance is 0.03 - 0.05mm). Camshaft is in bad condition also. I think, we will make "bottom end disassembly" video in the future.

boa tarde eu tenho uma sx-f 450 2008 e ultimamente sempre que paro no fim de uma trilha o motor desliga sabe me indicar de onde possa estar o problema ? motor trabalha bem e levou filtro de ar novo e vela nova e continua igual sou dos açores e não temos oficinas nesta ilha para motos , se poder dar uma dica agradecia muito obrigado .

Hey . My ktm sxf250 2007 is leaking oil thru the breather hose ... my piston , rings and cylinder are good

Don't mind if dripping a little. It's normal because 1 piston engine suck air through breather hose when piston goes up and breath out when piston goes down. Oil steam condensed inside of breather and goes outside. BTW remove headcover and clean breather parts(hose, plate and etc.)

@@AXRV88 and my breather hose has no filter or anything it just hangs behind the motor without being connect to the air filtre box or carburetor is that Alright?

Yes, it's normal for cross/enduro bikes.

Hi! I'm not recommend you to use parts from other versions. Otherwise you need to use micrometer and compare all dimensions of both cams.

You need to compare cams. If they are identical, count it is part which you need.

avdlds Sorry, but engine was assembled long time ago. And I have no videos with assembling it. Maybe sometime I can record it.

Hi, I also have ktm sxf 250 (2006) I want to do piston rings replacement, do I have to remove complete engine from frame or I can do it when engine is on bike? tnx

Hi! I think you can replace rings with engine in frame. You need to remove head and cylinder.

How did you took the chain Off pls help

You need to remove chain tensioner first. Then you need to try to remove chain from camshaft which is near chaintentioner and then from second camshaft.
