same slow start problem with my 250 exc-f 15 model: valves are in spec, fuel filters done, properly charged battery, i'll try this one i guess my torque limiter was never changed. ty

Any idea if this issue shows itself as annoying pig squealing kinda noise when trying to start up? After 3-5 times it can kill my battery, but when warm, if my bike is riden every day, this becomes a non issue. Any ideas?

Awesome video man, straight to the point. The starter on my 2017 350 sounds like it spins freely. I took a 3 second video of the sound on my channel. Would you mind checking it out to see if it was a similar sound to yours? Your reply may be helpful for other viewers as well. I’m unsure if the issue is as simple as the torque limiter or if I need to get a new freewheel clutch and intermediate gear as well, as mentioned in other videos. Thanks dude!

when you would try to start the bike, would the stater motor spin freely? i have that problem, the starter motor spins freely and the engine wont turn at all, and i dont know i the problem in on the torque limiter or on the starter clutch (behind the flywheel)

Hey, i have ktm excf 250 2017 model, and i have problems with estart. Starter struggles to turn over like the battery is bad. I have new battery (tried diffrent ones) starter was inspected and cleaned, valve timing is set up...and i still have the same problem. Can it be the torque limiter?

Replace the inline fuel filter and maybe try a new spark plug first. If that doesn't work, then try a new torque limiter.

So what is the purpose of a torque limiter? Why not just have it direct gearing without the clutch discs?

The starter torque limiter is just what it sounds like. It limits both forward TQ from starter to the idler gear to the starter gear at the crank. It limits torque transferred (thru clutch plate slippage) when the motor tries to put torque from a failed start / stall or when energy is transferred from the rear wheel. Think of it as the weak link in the setup. If it were direct gearing with out a torque limiter, gears would get shed as opposed to the clutch plates allowing slippage.
