I've always been in awe of those who can remember how to reassemble a motor.

I've always been in awe of those that can try and kickstart a motor 100 times hoping the 101st kick may be the one that gets it running. I think just rebuilding the thing is less effort!

what is amazing to me is your video skills to do such a rebuild, give us a great idea of the problem and what it took to fix it and do it in only 12 minutes!

5K to rebuild? Can a new one be much more?

I thought that was a lot too! Guess that’s the KTM life…lol. For comparison, for all the work I did my bill was under $500. And I basically rebuilt it again.

New one $12k, that is a RFS (racing four stroke) one of ktm best designs. Horse power is around 49, but the torque is very useful and friendly. 2 traits rarely found together... You have to ride it to appreciate it...

KTM uses a nikasil plated cylinder, you need to be careful how much you hone it and with what you use, else you ruin the cylinder. Looking at those hone marks I would say you ruined that cyclinder.

Nope. Been running great! He said it even runs better then when he had the full rebuild done…lol
