I had a YZ490 from 1986 & lowerd it,put on a small rear sprocket & a old road bike front tyre & it did a best of 12.2 sec 1/4 mile at 108mph at the old ravenswood drag strip.My KX250 91 did a 12.9 at 99mph set up the same.

Im happy to see that there is at least one other guy that knows what hes talking about. At KTM, we had a 55 horse motor that every one used, and refused to try the stronger 80 horspower one. The big difference was the small flywheel. While it made a huge difference in power, its problem was its ability to rev to quickily. Have you tried a small flywheel on your motor

yes there is also the 550 exc 2-stroke but they only built them until 1996 or so...my dad owned one but he sold it...just too brutal for the woods:D

Can someone explain how the stock suspension handles those jumps ? even with the clickers to the stop on my exc125 it still bottoms out on jumps half as big??

They probly change the oil you can get 5 weight and 10 weight and im not sure if you can get higher or change the springs in the shocks and maybe the hole the oil goes through

Thats what bike shops are for dude, maybe start by checking the sag first. Springs for your weight is the first step.

KTM had a 2 stroke in the 80's for sure. They made one (a two stroke) that put out 80 horsepower), as did Kawasaki and Honda. It was the emissions trouble that got all of them in trouble. If you believe that any 4 stroke would (own) an 80 horse power 2 stroke, then you need to get your head examened. Not only did they have them, but hey all still do. A 2 stroke just may be coming your way soon.
