This episode we continue heading south towards Melbourne. We have some awesome riding in the Danggali Conservation Reserve. We spend our final night camping on the Murray River before the long haul back to the big smoke.
The adventure wraps up where it started from some 8 days earlier. 5000kms, 8 nights and an unsupported crossing of the Simpson Desert done.
As always, I hope you enjoy this episode and the entire series. Fingers crossed it gives you an inside look of what it is like to do an unsupported motorcycle adventure in the Australian outback.
Thanks for watching and if you want, like, subscribe or comment. I really appreciate your support.
Ride safe, be safe and see you on the trails.
Thanks heaps,
Craig

Not to sound too much like an old fart, but these are the days that you will look back on in later life with fondness and feelings of freedom and joy and mateship that will never return. Cherish them and look back on them when you’re caught up in the old 9-5 grind again, knowing that you’ve done something truly worthwhile with your life that very few others get to do. Well done sir. 👍

Craig you did an Outstanding job putting this series together from the initial planning, bike prep series, gear layout etc. I really enjoyed the way you started the day, “ Good morning mates” walk around the camp ground to the incredible riding all day long pushing through the dunes. Your attitude was outstanding always lending a hand picking up bikes to cheering on the boys just making it over the dunes. It’s an incredible job pushing a big bike, I know I’m a 990s rider. My salute to you making it crash free be proud of that. Finishing off the day with a quick recap. It amazed me how little you guys ate in the morning to start those long days. I always looked forward to the video in the series, as you did such a great job, I can honestly say that I have watched each episode 3-4 times, always picking up something new. I had to laugh when you did the rocker arm rebuild and didn’t check the valve clearance, I said oh my gosh he forgot and you caught that and had to redo the work. We often learn more from our mistakes good job mate. Obviously your attention to the details paid off as I believe you did not experience any mechanical problems. Having ridden and raced Baja for years I know how the preparation is a key factor in having a good and successful ride ! I would love to come to the land of down under and ride with you guys it would be a hoot. And perhaps if you come to the states you could go to and do The Baja with us. Until next time I’ll watch the reruns of Shadower 75 KTM 690, CHEERS 🍻🍻🍻🥃🥃🇺🇸🇺🇸.

Hey Mark, thanks heaps for the comments mate. When you get feedback like that it makes it all worth it. It's funny as when I'm home I usually have a decent breakfast but out in the outback it was just a breaky bar and mid-morning protein ball. Seem to work though as I didn't feel myself getting hungry or lacking energy. Now you are talking, I would love to get over there and give Baja a crack. guess not having a bike or knowing anyone there I just haven't entertained the idea. Now you have me thinking. You let me know if you're ever down under mate. This country is built for adventure. Cheers again and have a good one.

What an amazing series!!! I’m captivated, just getting into moto camping and I found some real inspiration here. Thanks so much for the effort to capture the trip then turn it into just a fantastic watch. Building my 2021 DR650 “bush pig”….planning a trip from Chilliwack British Columbia up to Mayo in the Yukon Territories. Side note, when I was 5 turning 6 I lived in Narooma for a year…mom and dad were on a teacher exchange so I feel kinda connected to your Ausie footage. 41 years old now. Again, thanks!!

Thanks heaps mate, really appreciate your comments and love knowing I have inspired people to get out there. I'm sure the bush pig will handle everything your amazing country can offer, very capable bike that one. Lol, good old Narooma, absolutely a beautiful place on the south coast of NSW. I was only there a few months ago enduro riding and 100% you have a connection to down under. Would have been a great experience for you. Cheers again.

Craig, I don’t know where to start mate. Thank you so much for your videos. I am currently laid up with a broken ankle from a recent Adventure Bike weekend away with some mates. I came off on our way to Nundle ( near Tamworth) and probably foolishly continued on to Nundle for an over nighter and then back home through Barrry Sration and Barrington the next day. I guess as I had organised the ride and wanted to see it through! 😩. The injury resulted in an operation with a plate and screws inserted and at this stage probably 2 months off work. Your videos have not only given me some inspiration to recover and get back on the bike but also they have got me through a few dark times emotionally as my recovery doesn’t allow me to do too much and being a burden on the family. The Simpson Desert crossing looked epic and the whole series was like watching Netflix! I was always looking to see what was happening next. So again thanks for your videos they have lifted my spirits and above all you seem like a good bloke as well. Regards Trev.

Well done, Craig! I like the use of the compact video camera along with the GoPro's wider angles. You were right on Brendan's rear wheel in that one scene! The 690 is one my list of dream bikes. I'm looking forward to your wrap-up video(s). I'm looking forward to Brendan's (Nerb 1) too (since he's got a radiator to fix from his totally rebuilt motorcycle). You need to convince him to get you an afternoon with the 790 Adventure R so you can give a 690 rider's review! Great times. I'm glad I got to tag along from half a world away! When you get enough KZbin money, let me know when you come here to do the Trans-America Trail!

Great series and an awesome ride by all. I just found your channel a few days ago and watched all 7 videos. The Simpson looks like a great ride. I'll have to put it on my list. I was in Australia in '98' for the ISDE US team, Victoria, but didn't get to do any adventure riding. We did get to Melbourne and Phillips Island plus a few other areas. Really enjoyed ourselves and hope to get back again, next time to do some adventure riding.

My first Simpson crossing was June 2015. West to East on a KTM690 with a group of DR's. All firies from Sydney. Your excellent video captured the same locations and memories of that ride and It truly felt like I was on the bike riding it again. My second trip was actually the Great Australian Ride 2019. I remember riding day 1 from Birdsville and seeing this KTM 1190 thumping along. I did say F#$%ck me !!! I have one of those too. Crazy. I started watching the video series, noted the 1190 and thought, this is about the same time as our trip. Sure enough, Episode 4 at 27:07, there I was on my 690. 7500 kays across, then same back. 690 died 300 kays short. (ie : at 14,700 kays) Anyway, great video. Look forward to more of the same.

Great series, I'm looking forward to coming over from England late next month (Feb 2020) and passing through some of the areas you've been.
