I purchased a 21 ktm 690 smr had issues at the start the engine threw a rod after 800miles just got it back been 5 months without it. This is my secondary bike for fun. Just added exhaust,tune and intake so shall see how well the bike responds now. I also added a seat concept xl seat and much more comfort now as well.

The 690 SMC R is a woot! Plenty of power and the handling is awesome! Once the road gets twisty the SMC is a liter bike slayer. I added the Power Parts seat to mine, it’s WAY better than the stock seat. Only after 5-6 hours is my rear end numb.

The seat is a must change! I just did 2 videos on the 5 things I love and hate and the seat is my number 1 gripe. Amazing bike though!!!!!

I think the clackity sound engine is caused by the oil pressured chain tensioner hence that noise until you're at higher RPMs.

I think you’re right! I was doing some research on it and a fixed cam chain tensioner fixed my MT07 issue. Probably a similar thing.

@@UrbanMoto It scares some people with their 701s, but I think it's fine. Kinda reminds me of having to replace my 2016 DRZ400SM's ACCT to MCCT anyway despite people saying that the newer model ones were fixed.
