This bike is driving me crazy! Are you good with ktm? I have a problem with my 690 i bought last month. its from 2012 and the pre-owner states it have EVO 1 map on it. It have EVO 1 airbox with foam filter and LeVince Slipon. The bike runs really bad without the DB killer. it dies on idle, pops and bangs on lower revs and runs rough on low speed with twitchy response on the gas. When i put the DB killer in the slipon the bike runs great with good idle and not twitchy. What can be the problem? is the back pressure to low? is the mapping wrong? I want to be able to run without DB killer but i cant do it at the moment. I have changed spark plug and the coil (the tip was gray/white) I have changed fuel filter, Inline fuel filter, fuel pump. the next thing muste be the mapping? I also did try this reset you showing but still same. I dont know what to do now execpt check the Mapping.

Thanks John - great tip. My new 2022 690 seems to drop all throttle response sometimes on a gear change - normally 1 to 2, but recently on 2 - 3, just no response after I let the clutch out, and then when I return the throttle to home position and open it again the engine will have power again. Dealer says he's never heard of it, and the service showed no computer faults. anyone else had this on their 2019+ 690?

I’ve been wondering for a few years now when we were gonna see a ride by wire throttle. I’m strictly a motocross guy so I’m not familiar with these bikes. How long has ride by wire been a thing? Does it feel extremely smooth?

I want to think 2014(?), but honestly I don't know without researching. Makes total sense with EFI.

P.S. It more or less feels like any other throttle. I helped develop a spacer kit to take out the "freeplay" ie.. slop out of it. If you do a G2 throttle and the spacers its extremely tight and smooth. Thats what I have on my ebike. Since it has no clutch, accurate throttle sensitivity is more important than say my 250F with less torque, throttle response and a clutch.

@JohnHowerton137 Жыл бұрын
Glad it helped. If you ever need to bump start your bike on a stone dead battery, this is pretty much a must. Modulating the throttle while bump starting screws it, so after it’s started and charged enough you do this to reset the position so it isn’t moped slow 🤣
@tomupcott9922 Жыл бұрын
Just had a 2023 701 sm, and you can’t clutch wheelie as something is killing the power, it also loses power when going from half to full throttle intermittently. Took it back to the dealer and there’s no faults. If you disconnect the front abs sensor you get full power. The dealer changed the sensor, front wheel and engine ecu but it’s still the same
@JohnHowerton137 Жыл бұрын
Well there is anti-wheelie for a couple gears. Thought it all had to be turned off by dealer in the ECU. Maybe I'll disconnect my front ABS. I put a spacer in the rear one a long time ago to disconnect it. That chit tries to kill you off-road if you forget to turn it off.
@tomupcott9922 Жыл бұрын
Problem with disconnecting the front sensor is that the Speedo doesn’t work and the engine light comes on 😂 thanks, I’ll ask the dealer about the anti wheelie! Why would they put that function on this type of bike 😵💫
@JohnHowerton137 Жыл бұрын
@@tomupcott9922 because most people don't know how to ride 🤣 If I remember correctly, it can be turned off by the dealer if the full Akra exhaust system is purchased. That's how you get the performance mapping.

I did the ecu, throttle reteach and adjusted the gear lever as there wasn’t much space for my boot and it now wheelies properly! I’m thinking it was something to do with my boot slightly touching the gear lever and sending the quick shifter mad !
