KTM 890 Adventure R - REVIEW

Join me on the KTM 890 Adventure R, for a road based review, is it GOOD on the road or BAD !!!

The issue with my 890R, is I cant stay off the thing. Every ride turns into some sort of mammoth all day event involving 500 miles or more.......seems to be getting worse. 10,000 miles on it no problems at all.......Smooth fast and comfortable for 12 hour rides..................I put some smoother tires on for summer and it makes a really good road bike. I already have dirt only bikes.

Cheers. The audio was clear but it sounded like you were being buffeted a bit. Was the windscreen effective? I liked the instrument cluster, very clear to see and attractive. Thank you for another nice review.

Hi, actually you’re spot on, I didn’t really notice until I got back on my MT09 to ride hope (which has no screen at all), but the airflow was actually much smoother on that. So yes I think the 890 would benefit from a different screen, (not sure if it’s adjustable or not, if so, that’d likely solve the problem), possibly bigger, or maybe even smaller might do the trick, but there definitely was some buffeting wasn’t there. @@Carlshandlebarsandholidays the windscreen from the standard 890 Adventure is an option and has almost 5 inches of extra height over the screen on the R. KTM fit the shorter screen on the R so you don't headbutt it when you standing up on the pegs with your head over the bars when your barrelling through some off-road terrain.

@@Carlshandlebarsandholidays I put the 25.00 windscreen extender from ebay on my R model, and it does the trick. For winter a wider screen might be better to get thru the cold.

Tiger will be a much better and more comfortable 'touring bike', if you are asphalt road inclined. I have owned a 790R and currently have the 890R. If you lean towards the lesser travelled tracks/dirt more, that's where the KTM will pay it back in spades for you though. Overall though, the KTM is a super fun bike to ride on or offroad. It's an instant smile everyday.
