Legacy manufacturers have really been caught in their sleep, haven’t they. Bikes like these Koves, Voge, CF Moto and Royal Enfield are daring, interesting, look nice and have tremendous value. All with well known brands of tires and suspension. BMW 900 cost double, have much less spec all round and still have Chinese engines and tire brands. And don’t even get me started on the Japanese brands, which are all just sleeping with massive gaps in keys market segments.

I had a long chat with Lee on the Kove stand at ABR about this bike, as well as having a good long look at it and sitting on it. Unfortunately, they only received the first couple of bikes in the UK just in time for ABR, so I didn't get out on one, but I can't wait to get one out off road. It looks, sounds and feels like a weapon, and it's gonna be a game changer in the middleweight adv market for sure. It feels light, really well balanced, and carries its weight low. The attention to detail evident in the whole design concept is absolutely next level. It's extremely well specced from standard. They've thought of everything, including easy air filter access, innovative oil filter location, quality steering damper from standard, and it's even got mounting points as standard for an aftermarket raised front mudguard. Build quality looks really good. KTM bottom end with completely re-engineered top end specifically done for Kove, to get over the known KTM cam issues. The price is incredible, its a lot of bike for £8½k, and the 18 month, unlimited mileage warranty says to me that Kove are willing to back it on reliability too. Look out for somebody taking one RTW soon. And don't forget this is the company that took three of their 450 rally bikes to Dakar, and all three finished...on their debut! 🤯❤️‍🔥 Also the back story is inspiring. Welcome aboard Kove, I for one am really looking forward to following your progress.

Especially after looking in detail at how well designed and engineered the rest of the bike is. I didn't go into all the weight saving measures Kove have used, but they've definitely saved a chunk of weight compared to other manufacturers for sure with things like a lithium battery as standard. There's bound to be numerous other intelligent design solutions around the bike that's no doubt made the difference too. Seriously, go to Kove, check one out in the flesh, and chuck every question you've got at them, they'll answer the lot in great detail. It's a helluva bike.

If this is confirmed then I’m likely to buy this bike, with 95bhp and that low weight it should be a serious weapon and do just about everything reasonably. This sounds great for the money. The true test will be real world use, dealer support and residuals. The key thing that no twin has yet achieved is low weight and low centre of gravity. I’ve bought a 701 Husky for those very reasons and will sell my otherwise excellent KTM 890 Adventure. This might well be the kick up the arse that manufacturers need. Older riders (like me) still want to ride, can afford to but physically struggle with the heft of even the “middleweight” range. I’ve gone from a GSA sold in 2022 to an ATAS DCT ES then an 890 Adventure and now the Husky losing something close to 120kg into the bargain. I don’t see me wanting to go back.

I love the competition and love the chinese companys going for lighter, cheaper bikes without completing sacrificing quality. I’m most excited to see what will happen to the true mid weight sector 450ish. I’m hoping aprillia will put their 500ish motor in a light bike and then everyone will race to have the lightest fastest adv. fingers crossed. Maybe even a wr 500 from yamaha with a 50cc bore out on stroke to increase service range. ❤

The big difference comparing to Japan is that China is a communist dictature, supporting Russia's war on Europe among other things. Chinese industry is the same thing as Chinese government. That would be the reason to be sceptical, not because they couldn't make quality products which of course they can if they want. But idealism never triumph over economy.

My worry is that it has been saved in areas that make the bike less save like paper thin steel tubes for example. Someone here in the comments mentioned it has been weight by greek motomag at 191.5kg fully fueled. That's 12kg (around 25lbs) lighter than the Tenere 700. Biggest question with this Kove will be reliability. They clearly didn't even bother to properly translate the menus. Otherwise it honestly makes a good impression. But one does wonder, what else they didn't bother doing other than the translation. As much as I personally hate the Chinese government and Chinese sentiment, I'd like this bike to do well. @@constantinosschinas4503 Yeah I know about the CF-Moto and KTM situation and what your saying is definitely not correct. KTM has developed and designed the 790s and they do the QC on the 790s assembly line. Most likely they set up the assembly line together with CF-Moto. CF-Moto just provides the infrastructure and workforce. So it's not a CF-Moto bike sold under the KTM name. It is a KTM sold under the KTM name, but manufactured by CF-Moto under the direction of KTM. On top of that, CF-Moto has their own bikes, developed and designed by themselves, using motors from the KTM assembly line. Those are CF-Motos with a KTM motor. For Kove however, I've not seen an official statement about the whole situation. Obviously they designed the bike themselves, and according to you, they use a modified KTM motor. If it's modified however, it needs a different assembly line and costs a lot more than the standard KTM motor (new castings, different parts, all with a lower volume). I honestly doubt they set up a second assembly line for the Kove 790 motor within CF-Motor. Maybe the use the same assembly line, but for a part of the time. Or maybe they just cloned it and build it somewhere else.

@@Blockbuster2033 We say exactly the same thing. But when people say oh it's chinese, it is important to underline that KTM 790s are, manufacturing wise, CFmotos. They are made in China and that shocks people. Who exactly did what in terms of design or design for manufacturing is details for them. What is to fight for anyway? KTMs never had a reputation of being the most or easy to maintain or reliable bikes, unless something changed in the past years which i am not aware of. Japanese bikes still prevail in quality and reliability, at least in people's perception. Now that Yamaha is also cooperating with CF, we will see.

for those who are curious about the weight: the body structure of this bike is totally different from the major brand. And the engine plays a role as part of the frame.
