The initial hesitation is because of the Ride By Wire throttle. It was added to prevent unwanted wheelies during take off. Brilliant safety measure. This bike is absolute value for money in it's segment. The only competition will be Yamaha's MT-03 when it launches!

Sorry but its a safety feature for those who dont know how to ride or control a beast. A bike like 390 duke or 790 or above these are meant to be ridden with skill. Every horse has a man that can tame it but every man also beclmes wild along with the horse before taming it i hope you understand the hard core riders hate these assists. Its about raw and pure power delivery experience and sadly it takes skill to experience that.

I traded a couple of duke 390s ..they're so much fun to ride.. I miss my 2017 duke a lot.. it was a beast. It used to crack and pop whenever I downshifted. A proper beast of a bike..

Slipper clutch on 390 is ride by wire which is more crisper in response than 250 and the clutch on 390 is also paired with quickshifter which is not available in 250 but the seating comfort is the same.

You're doing clutch less shifting u can do this in any bike . U don't have to blip the trottel in quick shifter .

If you have patience of 2 yrs, then wait for duke 490. From what I've read from several articles, it will look similar to duke 790 (not sure though). Duke 390 is a great bike but those paint schemes doesn't look that good. Engine refinement will be more good in 490 than 390. Again 490 would cost more, around 50k - 1 lakh plus(because it will be twin cylinder and would have lot of additional features) . So be ready and make up your mind accordingly.

I own a gt650 and had driven duke 125 for 3 years so I would say definately go for gt650 as it has better seats and also gt feels more at home at 160 than duke 390.
