One of the biiggest problems for KTM is the tag "squid riders" given to KTM owners in india. Last few years had been awesome for KTM in india selling masses of bikes here, but some squid riders have became a nuisance and that had lead to a massive decline in sales.

When was the last time you heard someone cancelled their plan to buy KTM because of Squid riders?
@CaffeinatedCruiser6 күн бұрын
That’s interesting! I wasn’t aware of that. I did know ktm was very popular in India. I actually sold my last ktm to a guy here in the US for school and from India.

I didn't understand why KTM bought all these other brands to just sell the same bike. Never loved KTM styling very polarizing and you must like orange I guess. But I'm sure they are fun to ride very light and powerful. But man I think motorcycling motor cycle racing is struggling. I mean Moto gp was pretty much a Ducati show no one wants to invest in it. Japanese have pretty much given up on motogp it's a european series more. But kudos to Ducati for dominating.

Rather than just dumping Husqvarna in particular, they could streamline the bikes they produce that are identical or very similar into one model with KTM or Husqvarna styling, and target different markets according to which sells best. Doubtless they sell more Husqvarnas in Scandinavia where they can actually pronounce the model names and know what they mean (black/white arrow). Another option, once the camshaft problems are ironed out, is to dump the KTM name for commercial on-road bikes and call them all Husqvarna, which will mean buyers won't automatically associate their brand with unreliability. (However, HTM and Husqvarna have completely different dealership networks, at least here in the UK.)

That’s a very interesting idea however as far as I understand the issue is not volume of sales. Ktm still sells quite well(lower than covid years but still strong) however their debts and obligations to all their factories and product lines are just way too much for their sales to cover. I think at this point Ktm is the stronger brand identity and it would make more sense to cut the other ones. But again at this point anything could happen and your points may be spot on!

I would very much like to see the Svartpilen/vitpilen stick around though. The 701 and 801 haven’t sold great but the 401 has

MV Agusta has issued a statement addressing recent speculation, much of which has been laced with misinformation about the iconic Italian brand’s future, including an unconfirmed forecast that beleaguered KTM AG, which holds a controlling 50.1% stake in MV, has already decided to divest its stake amidst its own financial spiral and insolvency proceedings.

Bajaj could also increase their stake in KTM AG to alleviate the problem

Is Ducati a small company?
@CaffeinatedCruiser5 күн бұрын
Historically yes. They have often had financial difficulties because their volume of sales is quite low. They have had a great decade of so but this is the anomaly
