If I can ever get used to the styling of the new R1300GS Adventure, I'll get one with adaptive ride height and the Enduro package. This is the exact reason I bought my ‘23 GSA. After working in the auto industry and now high end appliances, I ALWAYS buy the outgoing model. Sales numbers are important to these companies for a few reasons, but with a new model, R&D can only go so far in the factory and in loaning out bikes to folks like you. The consumer is built in to the R&D process for brand new designs. It’s personal preference, but I don’t want to be a part of that. I want to enjoy my purchase, and man o man, do I ever love my GSA! Thanks for all your content, man. It’s straight forward, unbiased and informative. Criticism comes with the territory and negativity will always be there. If I had one piece to offer, I’d advise to not mention these kinds of comments or put screenshots up. People will take a mile if you give them an inch. Don’t let the haters bother you or give them a spotlight. Keep doing what you’re doing, support your family and pursue your passion. The supportive, thankful audience will always be here. Merry Christmas to you and yours, Ian!

Northcape, Turkey, Greece, UK, Ireland, Morocco, Portugal, back and forth, yes, I know you do great videos, and I don‘t but many travel as much or more as we do. That‘s what the bike is made for, my Indian Chieftain, too (currently just run in at 112.000). 300.000 is it‘s duty! Just as I would expect from a SuperTenere1200. My old Triumph bonneville T140D from 1979 did fine on 70.000 as well before I sold it for a bigger bike, that failed 48.000 - Trinkley (new Triumph Hinkley), so I don‘t buy Triumph and for similar reasons (2 new bikes that failed, VF1200F, CB1100RS) neither a Honda.

I've owned my R1250GSA two years now and it's the best bike I've ever owned. It may not be the best looking but it isn't bad in a brutaliste kind of way. It is highly competent for all the reasons you mentioned and I'm loving the 30L petrol tank and the suspension that smooths out what laughingly passes for roads down here in Australia. It's an absolute torque monster and frugal on the fuel to boot. Just got back from a 2200km ride around the high country of south eastern Australia and as usual it was an absolute hoot. Peak 1250 GSA. ❤

Completely agree. All perfectly good reasons and I'm sure they resonate with a lot of people out there. Couple of years ago I got a V4 Multistrada for a reasonable price. Excellent bike but I just never felt the love. Sold it a few months later to a friend and he put 12,000km on it in no time. He loves the thing and I was back on my 1200 GS Adventure. Teething problems and accessories are also good reasons for hanging on for a while before buying a new design. As far as looks go, there will probably come a time when we all like the new look but it's gonna take me some time...

Agree with the looks. My 1290 SAS has grown enough on me that I actually kinda like its odd buggy look now. Though that may just be because the new 1390 models are somehow even more hideous, making the older 1290s look better by comparison. lol

I agree with everything you said. I wouldn't want the adaptive elevator system, I suspect it will be hugely problematic in the long term. There are other channels for those who don’t understand what you’re trying to bring your audience. Carry on and ride safe. I’m in my late 40’s and trying to get two good long term bikes as I start to consider retirement…I have a used ‘05 BMW RT (purchased in 2023 & I’m the 3rd owner) and a 2018 V-Strom 650XT (bought new in 2019)…love these bikes but long term, not sure they’ll give me what I want or take me to the places I desire to experience. Really considering a BMW GS and Tuareg…because of your content and very in depth information, I’m seeing where this may make sense for “me”, and unless someone is contributing to the acquisition of these bikes, their opinion is only valuable to them. Thanks and Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

@ as you’ve demonstrated and thank you that. I think they would pair nicely for my type of riding and not limit me on the street or Adv wise regardless which one I’m on at the time. Having a strictly street only tourer, while the RT is awesome even at the year I have…I’ve come across an unforeseen gravel road during a ride that it “can” do but a GS would give me similar comfort, I think, and can confidently handle an unforeseen road condition without issue. Tuareg for slightly more aggressive and tighter conditions, with comfort and creature features and enough power. Thanks again for the work you do!

Excellent, thank you Big Rock Moto! Now I can ask a little more for my 1250GS Adventure haha!

I feel exactly the same. Looking to buy one of the last GSA 1250 2024. I am not ready for the newer technology bike until it’s been out for a few years. I just can’t get used to the robotic look of the 2025 GSA and the front light. Thanks for sharing your honest thoughts. Currently I have the 2023 1250RT, love it and plan to hold onto it as a second bike.

A long time friend of mine, who used to own a Seattle, WA area ADV parts and accessories company has a 1200 GSA. He prefers the GSA model for the same reasons you do - better wind protection and bigger tank. He's had it a long time. It must be one of the first years of the 1200.

All great reason. I love my 1250 and for now at least have no plan to ever get ride of it. It does everything I want it to do and that’s all I really want. Will I get an additional bike down the road, absolutely, but after riding both the 1300gs and gsa, like you said, personally the 1250gsa just feels better to me. Thanks for the video

Calling it like you see it is what makes for good video content. Keep up the good work 👍

You tell it straight Ian. I bought my first R1250 GS back in April for many of the same reasons… Happy holidays!

I picked up my first lightly used 2023 1250 recently. It's the best road/adventure bike I think I've had. Congrats on the new one.

Not the Dave Ramsey show… I laughed out loud. This video only adds to your credibility. That is one good looking bike, especailly in that color. As for what I’d like to see, travel videos. Best of luck with the 1250 and looking forward to your vidoes in 2025. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Very glad you got it! Love the color and look. Hard to see those great deals pass me by. Finances tough for a few more months. Sticking with my 2023 KTM 1290 SAS until I have more breathing room, then I will have to see where I can find one of these blue/black 2024 GSAs. I agree on the assessment that the GSA inspires the most confidence long distance. I miss that feeling. KTM amazing but on long trips, I miss the GSA badly, especially with comfort and fuel range.

Congrats on the purchase! You can't go wrong with any GSA really... I got delivery of the first 1300 GSA in Canada and have ridden it down to Mexico. I have almost 8000 kms on it already and about to do another big road trip (Cancun to Guadalajara) ! I'm completely in love with it! The ASA is incredible and buttery smooth - It's great for long road trips and I find it helps reduce ride fatigue. The styling seems to be polarizing but I love it personally. It looks like (and IS) a tank that can go anywhere. The only downside to getting the 1300GSA so far has been, as you mentioned, the lack of accessories/after-market parts so far. Cheers!

Love your videos. I have been watching your videos for a while for bike and accessories advice. Some people can be just ignorant idiots. Love your content and keep it going.

I'm loving the confirmation bias youtube vids I'm getting 😆 I too just bought (on Friday!) a 24 R1250GSA for pretty much all the same reasons. Throw your bike in a container and come to Australia for your next "Adventure" Ian ✌

Agree, 100%... All the same reasons why I bought the '24 GSA Adventure in May.

Really good video Ian. You are a terrific bike reviewer and you have worked really hard to provide excellent information to guys with a love of adventure bike riding. It takes hours to shoot video, get good sound recordings and then edit it all. I’m a professional photographer and have only dabbled in video and it’s work. I had a 901 for two years and loved every ride on it, it was decked out with the best luggage etc but I had to sell it for health reasons but I will still watch your videos because they are THE best so please head up I-15 and hit Hwy 2 in Canada (Alberta) and when you come through Lethbridge on your way to Alaska you are welcome to stay the night and I’ll treat you to a meal also👍🏻. Cheers, Mike

I 100% agree and fully support the exact same views! I brought my 2024 GSA earlier this year in exactly the same color scheme. I love it, I’m not convinced with the new 1300GS or GSA yet, they do not appeal to me, the styling just is not there, also there are a ton of teething issues that I’m not prepared to deal with on the first production runs. Stick with a tried and tested platform and let the others suffer the teething issues. Also are the power/performance gains really that significant? I don’t think so. Happy Riding and Happy Christmas.

I owe it to myself to test ride a GS 1250 A. I have been a Goldwing rider for 20 years. I also like the looks of the GS 1250. Thanks for all you do for the motorcycle community Ian!

Great looking 2024 1250 GS. I’m liking my 1300GS. Thanks for doing all the research and sharing! I’m with you, the new 1300 GSA, just doesn’t have the looks. I will be looking forward to your videos on it though!

I like watching your stuff, gives me an idea of what if anything I'm missing, and bikes I really should try and ride. I've got a 22 1250GSA 40th anniversary and it is far and away my favorite motorcycle ever. I think they look fantastic, and it serves the purpose for everything I ask it to do. From all day on the pavement to gravel and even some true off road. I have had 6 BMW's, a KTM 1290SAR, a bunch of Honda's, Yamaha's, and 3 modern Husqvarna enduro bikes. I buy bikes that I want to ride and look good to me. When I had my R1150RT and the 1200RT came out, I told my dealer I'd never own one, it was too ugly. He told me you can't see it when you are on it, but I do have to look at it in my garage and everywhere I take it. I still don't like the way they look to this day. That's kind of how I feel about the 1300GSA, I wont say NEVER, but god its ugly! Certainly no new bike envy with that thing.

Great video, Ian. I suppose I'm biased, as I own a 2021 GSA, but I'm delighted to see you get another GSA. Your videos certainly were part of my inspiration for getting my GSA, so thanks for that. Mine has been totally reliable and a joy to own. I look forward to your upcoming videos about the accessories you've put on yours. Happy riding! Cheers, Jeff

Merry Xmas mate. Congrats on Employee of the decade! Not sure if you sway my opinions or we're legit alike about bikes but ive got a 21 1250 ADV. I love it. I dont ride it enough / much because I also love my Tuareg and ride that for my off road trips. But I can't sell it. I keep thinking I should take it back to stock and sell on but I just cant do it. I love the look of it and have a good connection. I learnt loads about it from your videos on your original one. You haven't done me any favours with this video 😂. Catch you in the New Year. Jim. Uk
