Setting the Idle on a KTM 4 Stroke | Solve Idle Problems by Listening

Did you try to set your idle on your KTM hoping to solve some problems? Well it might! But did you raise it or lower it to the correct RPM? To know if you set your bikes idle correctly, your best bet is to get a little tachometer like a TinyTach or one from TrailTech. If you don't have any tachometers at your disposal, the next best tool is your ears, so listen up!

Man thank you so much for this!! I have a 2020 FC350 and kept stalling. Bought a recluse radius CX auto… And the issue continued. Called recluse they said turn up the idol and your video confirmed that was definitely the issue I was having! Stalling in the air after a break tap was dangerous business, after it happens twice I knew I had an issue l. Thanks again!!

I set my idle to 2200 but felt waaay too high, so went back to about 1500...sounds healthy now

Watched your 3yr old videos on 4-stroke ktms, not starting. I have a unique one 2016 250xcf-w. Was sitting for a bit tried to e-start ,not enough juice so i kickstarted it and started to ride almost immediately after i go down the drive it ran super rough and bogging. Too it back up and killed it. Turns out i had a loose negative and the battery was toast and couldn't power the ignition coil (unlike the older 4stroke Fuel Injections without batteries i learned). So i put a new Ion battery in and it cranks good but no fire. Spark plug fires on the outside of cylinder but dont know about inside (have a new one coming). In the meantime i was wondering what else it could be? If i fried the voltage regulator or ECU running in that rough state for about 30 seconds. Thanks

Does turning the cold start screw do anything?

Yes it turns the throttle plate open more.

I know this probably isn't the kind of solution you're looking for but the dealer does have a KTM computer that will tell you everything is going on with your motor and your exact RPM
