Ask the New Mexico retired police oficer, than why did officer Bookman shoot one person and not the other person wearing the red mask? And then ask him why a head shot instead of shooting at the legs. And then ask why did officer Bookman continue to shoot as the victim falls on him stomach and officer Bookman shoots him six more time in the back as he is dying on the ground. And go back and ask Why did officer Bookman give an order to drop the weapon as both the victim and the perpetuator are both holding the weapon and not wait for anyone to comply in the order. Why did officer Bookman just shoot 1 second after giving the order? Clearly out of the two people officer Bookman is seeing, one is clearly wearing a red mask covering his face. Remember the police officer kicked open the door and entered the house so there was no threat to officer Bookman. Also the distance between both the victim and officer Bookman was at least 15 feet away (Enough for the officer to retreat if he felt threatened). And then ask why didn't officer Bookman render aid to the person he just randomly shot? Doesn't Las Vegas have peper spray, Tazers, Batons, etc.etc. to avoid the use of deadly force. Hope the retired officer from New Mexico really focus on the obvious errors of officer Bookman. Obviously I know that the majority of Law enforcement officer are hard working and decent people and try to their best to serve and protect. So my comment here is to reference only to officer Bookman. and only him, and not to the other hard working men and women in uniform.

Tragic! Would like to review the entire BWC video all the way through. From what I can see it appears the female was holding the knife, and the victim appears to be restraining her. Why the officer decided to shoot the man and not the female is unknown at this point. The call was for a home invasion. The female is wearing a coat and the man who was killed is in his underwear. Who would most likely be the invader? Then there is also the question as to why the officer fired five more rounds into the victim after he went down. Like I said, need to see the entire video. No doubt this was a bad shoot. The perp goes out in handcuffs and the person who called the police for help goes out in a body bag. Condolences to the family.

I’ve seen the clip, it was about 55 seconds. As the cop [Alexander Bookman] is racing to the scene. The radio dispatcher says, [paraphrasing] the intruder is wearing a red sweatshirt and dark colored pants. Im assuming he wasn’t paying attention to information being relayed. It was his daughter that called 911 btw.

In 37 seconds of watching a video going down the hallway, seeing a naked man and a mask man and decided to take fatal shots on the naked man................ office like de La Fuente im glad he is retired LOL why because when the officer rounded the turn. the home owner had the suspect pinned and the knife against the wall not on anyone. The issue is the officer. The officer mind is not calm it is pumped to kill. You have a homeowner that is afraid to let the man go because he has a knife and does not want to get stabbed so I understand the home owner. For the officer to NOT allow enough time so he can process what he is looking at. You have a naked and a person dressed in black the officer is not even thinking on those term...he just sees color for that is the only reason he fired in 1 second after issuing a command. I'm afraid of officer like this the body count stop after this one.

I'm not judging either way, but what about shooting the legs? If it was a gun, I could see lethal shots, but the officer was far enough away to shoot either person in the leg and stop the knife attack in my opinion. I'm not a LEO, so I'm just throwing out random thoughts. The LEO must have had major adrenaline rush and I'm sure that affected their response. I could also be totally wrong, but I would like to see other options "if" possible. LEO's have an almost impossible job and then when you factor in the fact that they are human and can't make perfect decisions every time, it's tough to judge. God bless to all involved.
