KTVU opens for The Ten O'Clock News and other newscasts

The following video features various news and talent opens from KTVU in San Francisco from the late 1970s to present. As with the original version of this video, since "The Ten O'Clock News" is very intregal part of KTVU's news history, I put those opens in a separate part of the video from those of other newscasts (the "Action News" intro included later in the video was placed separately for the simple fact that I wasn't sure if that name was for the 10 p.m. newscast or another early evening newscast that aired on the station during the 1970s).
This is a reupload of the compilation originally uploaded on November 3, 2013 to include cold opens and additional intros.

(2:54-4:08) 1994-2001 intro (similar to the 1987-1994 sequence, but includes a CGI rendering of San Francisco -- if you look on Google Earth with the model rendering/3D mapping, you'll see that there is a somewhat bigger distance between the Golden Gate Bridge and the city's skyline than is depicted in the open; version #2 at 3:42 features an animated glass "Circle Laser 2"/Fox combo logo and slightly altered theme)

If you grew up in the SF Bay Area, this is one of those sounds that just makes you feel so much at home. The other stations also had their identities: Van Amburg with KGO, Evan White (or Pete Wilson) with KRON and Dave Mcelhatton with KPIX. And they were all great just like Dennis & Elaine.

Back when ch 2 news openings and graphics were unique, stylized, and cool. Now KTVU has the same boring, canned openings and graphics as all the others! Thanks for uploading all of these, great to see the evolution of the number 1 prime time newscast in the country!!

NotSoGoldenAfterAll KTVU's former owners, Cox Enterprises did things different from the other corporate owners. Cox allowed their stations to have their own identity without being subjected to corporate blandness with graphics.

Well I grew up in San Francisco and I remember those first two theme songs and I know skyscrapers by year of their construction. The first two video clips with the first two theme songs here has to be before 1982. I would say the year 1981.

Had Cox been able to keep the station today after the Apollo deal, the 11 pm newscast would have been called "KTVU Tonight." (Harkening to what WSB, KIRO, WSOC, WPXI, etc. are doing.) But no, the Fox network was not content with not owning the station for itself anymore despite being one of many top affiliates.
