Thank you, Berkeley Fire Department, for maybe saving my home. I live less than 1.5 miles right "in the line of fire" from where the Tubbs fire finally stopped its westward expansion in Coffey Park. I had wondered why it stopped where it did. Now I know at least one reason why. You guys, and all the firefighters fighting these fire, are heroes.

Roger Clemons it’s like the Tea Fire in Montecito same story. Had burned several times along the exact same path. More awareness should be made to Californians whose neighborhood has burned historically that it may burn again

Thank you, Berkeley guys. I'm a native Santa Rosan (SRHS, '76) who happened to be visiting my family that week. We too could see the glow, from the SRJC neighborhood where mom lives. Just like in '64 when I was seven years old. Only now the area is built out with a lot more stuff to burn, obviously. I worry about what's going to happen here in Colorado sooner or later; it's much windier here in general, lightning strikes are common, humidity is low, and there are plenty of fill-the-lot subdivisions (Highlands Ranch etc.) around the cities. In any case, as others have said better, thank you again for your awesome effort.

Thank you for your hard work. The house you pulled up in front of was my old house. It was the house my son learned to walk in and where he spent his first Christmas. I am so thankful it is still standing, though so many of my old neighbors were not as lucky.

Bravo! Bravo! Bravo! Well done, Company 6! I worked with Mike Shuken, as a paramedic, for American Medical Response, many years ago. It was exciting and heart warming to see him on the big screen at this past weekends debut run of Urban Inferno: The Night Santa Rosa Burned. Good job, Berkeley Fire, and thanks for giving us a window into what our friends, neighbors, families, and colleagues endured.

THANK YOU BERKELEY FIRE DEPARTMENT and all FIRST RESPONDERS! You literally SAVED my house as our neighborhood was the next one over! Watching this freaks me out as I know and can tell where you are at almost perfectly. My work burned to the ground on the other side of the freeway and never in a millions years would I believe the fire could jump and fly so fast in as it did. The wind was fierce that night, many blown over objects (large things) in my yard etc. GOD BLESS YOU for going in Blindsided and continued to find as you said "something to save".

Thank you Engine 6 and guys from Station 6. A month later on 11/9 I drove through Kenwood and Glen Ellen by Sonoma and there were many many home made signs on Highway 12 saying ''Thank You First Responders''. That includes you guys for sure. Its a change from cutting people out of wrecks on Highway 80, dealing with heart attacks, OD's, and responding to suicides. You need to know that your efforts are very much appreciated in everything you do. Thank you very much. Hey, some hydrants on the other side of the mountains from Santa Rosa had zero pressure. Power lines to some Water Districts went down and there was no pressure at all.

At one time I did a lot of firefighting. Mostly wildland. So I'm learning too as I watch this. Very special thanks for this video. I appreciate the clear narration, the visual aids, and the thoughts of some of the fire personnel. Men with good hearts. Big fires are bureaucratic. The public needs to understand that it can take some time to find your way, to find and proceed to your alternate staging area, then make it to your assigned area, and learn what you are supposed to do. And then you better hope you have the resources to stay on the job. Let us never forget these brave guys; and don't criticize! They put their lives on the line for us, and would do it again. The Lord's richest blessing on them all.

I remember that night well. My daughter had friends that evacuated to our house in Sebastopol. She knew someone who died in Fountain Grove and at least two of my co-workers lost their homes. One nearly lost his life. He was in his 70s and didn't hear the sheriffs department going house to house. God bless and keep all that came to help; it would have been so much worse without you.

The high gusts of winds that began that Sunday night around 9-10 .pm., blew the initial fire that started in the hills to other areas surrounding the entire county. I was in those hills the night it started. The strong gusts of winds that would last over 12 hours or longer were so strong that it literally 'shook the large house' that I was housesitting. When I returned the following morning to my home on the West side of town I found dozens of small pieces of paper scattered throughout my fields, all with burnt edges. Fortunately none of those blown burnt papers started any fire in my field, but it did destroy one of the largest home sections just 1/4 of a mile from me, Coffey Park.

Those fires were completely Unnatural. While the poster above is a little eccentric with the Reptilian ideas and statements, I have no doubt that these Fires were set deliberately, because it had to come from something that came from the air, There is Civil War going on between differing factions in our Government. And moreover, CA has that Jesuit Bass-Turd Jerry Brown, who can't be Trusted in any way shape or form. This was an experiment by rogue Government Ops, of which there are plenty of in these days.

Yia Yia... Sunday afternoon in Martinez the wind came up gusting at 30 mph from different directions. That's 70 miles South of Santa Rosa. The humidity was at 8%. I thought it felt just like the day of the Oakland Hills Fire in Oct 1991. My neighbor lost his home in Rockridge 26 years before. I knew something was up and checked my fire fighting equipment, then called my neighbor to remind him to call me if he smelled smoke. He called back at 3AM. The nearest fires were 50 miles away but visibility due to the smoke in the morning was less than a mile here. A friend lost his home on Kerry Lane. He thought that the wind was blowing 70mph through Coffey Park when he evacuated. I'm glad you made it OK.

I pray for the lost souls and those who lost their homes. I pray nothing large like that hits us up here. Though we've had our share of fires here, We are more rural here with less access to water. Just air strike bucket dips from our depleted rivers.

Why did the houses burn to the ground and most of the surrounding trees still remained?
@jdgoodwin325
@jdgoodwin325 4 жыл бұрын
It's because live trees contain moisture and are harder to burn. These houses are made of dead and dried wood, and other flammables. Once the embers get on the roofs or sucked into the soffits the house will burn to the ground if it receives no fire suppression. Oh, and many trees did burn, especially ones closer to structures. Native trees such as live oak tended to fare better because they are evolutionarily adapted to wildfires.

I am stunned with these guys' perspective at the time. I learned of this video from listening to Deborah Tavares explaining how this happened, the policies and issues with the deliberate killing of privately bought up forests, creating the dead, dry wood left in place despite pleas from fire and hazard managers. The lawyers only offered preplanned evacuation maps. I checked out her site and all the documentation are there that supports her story.
