Chettante videos are superb! I relate to this video a little more than the others because I am living both sides of it - my husband is an American and I am a proud Malayali (moved to the US for higher studies). What you said is 100% true for an average American and Indian family. But, my parents are much more liberal than the average Rahul-family, my husband’s family is more family-oriented than an average Robert-family. We do have to schedule dinners with my husbands family because they live 2 hours away, and they don’t just “drop in” because that is considered rude. My MIL is one of the coolest people ever, and she and I go on road trips. No ammayiammaporu here!
