Great video. I purchased this model a few months ago and absolutely love it. Took it on a trip from St. Louis to California and back with no issues whatsoever while driving thru different terrains at hwy speeds.

I love your videos. I have a Sherpa 2. I find the hitch bolt too skinny, but the rack itself is very nice and study. I will buy the wall mount so I will hang the rack there when I don't plan to bike for a while. I plan to wax the metal part of the rack as well.

I like how stable the rack is when you tried moving it. I wonder if the v2 transfer is stable also.

I just saw this rack at REI. If you have an XL mountain bike, this one is not for you. The rear wheel will hang off a bit much. You’ll have to go with the NV model. Also, the arms feel flimsy when extended but solidly ratchets down on the wheel. Overall all, it’s a beautiful rack but big guys will have to opt for the NV.

Thanks for the video, but I am having trouble finding a video that explains who installs the hitch or how the hitch itself is installed, or how difficult it is to install. All the videos I have seen the hitch is already magically installed. This to me is the hardest part of the install so far since no one seems to explain how it got there. lol
@knobbynomad14283 жыл бұрын
The hitch receiver attached to the vehicle?
@Goldpenny13 жыл бұрын
@@knobbynomad1428 Yes, the part attached to the vehicle. I've been told that UHAUL does it buy nobody in these videos mentions that part. I need to get one attached for an electric bike rack for 2 e-bikes.
@drmoynihan3 жыл бұрын
@@Goldpenny1 Many people can "do it yourself", if you are handy with tools. Order the correct hitch on the internet or go to Harbor Freight. I would probably start with finding the correct one on the internet, search Amazon, and then call around locally to see who stocks it and how much for them to install it. Your Auto Mechanic could make the recommendation. OR - Call U-Haul (but they never answer their phone), or better yet, do a internet search for which branch of U-Haul installs hitches, then mask-up and drive to them, wait 1/2 hour till they get to you and ask how much. They will probably have it in stock and even sell it to you, but at that point I would ask them to install it!!! Hope all that helps.
@knobbynomad14283 жыл бұрын
@@Goldpenny1 I got that hitch receiver from Uhaul actually and installed it myself. I went with the full 2” receiver and you will have to buy one that is built fir your specific vehicle so search by year, make, and model to make sure it will fit.

Dude I bought my vehicle with a hitch already installed like many SUVs, pick up trucks. It’s not magic, it’s just an option we already have on our vehicle, that’s why this type rack is great if you have a hitch, if you don’t there are other type bike carriers.....you don’t need a hitch to transport a bike...

Half the weight More versatile
@drmoynihan4 жыл бұрын
@@mateuscabrera I understand the weight, but you said more versatile. The NV 2.0 has the Bike Stand, which I would use. Why did you say the Serpa is more versatile? Thank you. P.S. I have the older 2015 Thule 2(+2) Rack which switches out from 2 to 4 bikes in 10 minutes. It is really HEAVY, but so durable.
@knobbynomad14283 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I just went with the Sherpa because it was more compact and affordable.
@joeldrubin98323 жыл бұрын
The NV is a bigger rack. You have to be careful with cars that are low to the ground as the rack can bottom out. You're less likely to have that happen with the Sherpa.

Great Post. Is the platform above the CX5 dual exhaust pipes ? Would the hot emission of the dual exhaust of the CX5 directly hit the plastic part of the rack and the bike tires ? Thanks.
@knobbynomad14283 жыл бұрын
It is the Mazda CX9. The pipes are far enough away and I have had zero issues. It may be the angle of the camera that give the impression it’s sits close. No build up of exhaust emissions on the rack either and I have left it on for extended periods.

Is the back tire supposed to hang off that much? Would it even work with a bigger and lengthier bike?

When unloaded, in the up position, when just driving around...Is there any play, any rattle noise at all? I have kuat transfer and after 3 years it definitely let's me know it's there when bikes are not loaded. Annoying
@knobbynomad14282 жыл бұрын
Zero rattle with bikes loaded or unloaded. There is no play in the rack when in the stowed position assuming everything is tightened correctly. Other than it blocking my back up camera, I forget it is there.

Great review! I'm almost sold but have 2 questions: the max wheelbase is 47" my MTB is 48" do you know the wheel base of your 29er or if I'd have issues? Mine are ebikes also and weigh about 5 lbs over the max of 40, they are 45 lbs each, does it seem strong enough to take a few more pounds?
