This is THE VERY BEST instruction on assembly of this bike rack there is anywhere! Only two things of note: they don’t provide written instructions in the box anymore. They have a card with a QR code, and that takes you to the instructions, and another QR code for a video on assembly, which is LAME and unhelpful! The only other thing is that he opens the box and he has everything all ready to start assembly. This sucker is packed with tons of stuff on it that he obviously removed prior to the video. I wish he had shown removal of all that packing too. Seems like it should be obvious, but not for everyone! His instructions on actual assembly were FLAWLESS! Awesome, awesome. I’m a 62 year old woman and did it myself with only him teaching me! I never looked at the instructions online!

Can’t thank you enough for this video. Purchased Kuat Sherpa at REI thinking instructions would be inside and that it’d be an easy install. Well, for whatever reason there were no instructions inside the box and I hit the wall BUT then I found your video (thanks google) and you made the process a breeze... very detailed, methodical and easy to understand. Thank you!!!

Pretty sweet rack. How well does it work with a large or extra large mountain bike that’s modern and has slicker head tube angle. The slacker head tube angle makes for a longer wheel base. Would a large, slack, modern enduro/trail bike be too long for this rack?

Great vdo...don't ever think a cable will protect your bike from being stolen...bolt cutters will cut through any cable...all bikes over $5k should come with an alarm system to stop bike thieves. Some bikes cost as much as a car and it is a huge business for thieves.

Like in the video. Put it together while in the box. I took it all out and it was difficult. I ended up putting it in my hitch receiver to put it together from there.

Hi Phil, I always find if you have someone to help guide the weight of the bikes and rack down as you reach for the lever its a lot easier. On some taller vehicles you can use the lever as a foot peg. Glad you like it otherwise.

Great video. The paper instruction never even mentioned the front plate on the front tray. Perhaps it was because it was taped in place, but still a strange omission.

Once you tighten the front wheel hook to hold the bike, what's the space given if you rock the bike back-and-forth? As I drive I can see clearly see my bikes are rocking back-and-forth and I am wondering is that okay or what? Thanks.
@rackattack Жыл бұрын
Hello. It is important to position the front wheel arm hook as close to the first point of contact at the front fork as possible and apply very firm downward pressure. Test the stability by rocking the bike(s) side to side by hand. The amount of movement while driving should be no more than the stability test. Also, confirm the tires are inflated to the recommended tire pressure. Thanks!

I have two questions/concerns about this rack. First, do you have to go as close to the fork as possible? I’m adding fenders and rear rack to our bikes (to carry a child seat) so I need it away from the fork some to clear the front fender. Second, when this is in the upward stowed position, it looks like the inward tray’s front wheel tray/arm would be right near the vehicles exhaust, if it exists on the right side. I’ve seen some melted rack pictures on Amazon…is there anything that can be done to prevent this damage?
@rackattack3 жыл бұрын
The rack does need to close to the front fork as that is the main component which holds the rack. If you will be running front fenders, I would not recommend this rack. As far as the exhaust issue, the solution which Kuat has designed is called the Hi-Lo pro. This product will raise of lower the rack to avoid the pesky exhaust flumes.
@scotteger62713 жыл бұрын
@@rackattack can you recommend a rack that functions well with rack and fenders? Preferably one that doesn’t cost a fortune…thank you

Great video, one question, it doesn't seem like there's a lot of adjust ability for different sized bikes. My wife has a small frame 29er and I have a Large frame 29er but plan on buying a 27.5 plus bike this year (probably around a 3 inch wide tire). Seems like the NV 2.0 would be a better rack for me, is that a correct assumption?
@rackattack7 жыл бұрын
Shane, The Sherpa 2.0 does not have adjustability, but with the spacing design, it is very rare to have clearance issues. The NV 2.0 does have adjustable front wheel holders which do help offset the bikes.
@danfuerthgillis44837 ай бұрын
The only thing I don't like is that the front wheel on that mountain bike is taking all the bumps from the road which will lead to issues with the disc brakes as the front wheel is literally holding up the whole bike.

Do dome police stop you if you can't see the license plate?
@rackattack2 жыл бұрын
Hello. Most states require the rear license plate to be clean, lit at night and visible at all times, whether or not a particular law officer will enforce this is unpredictable. There are license plate relocation kits available for those concerned with this situation, eg: www.rackattack.com/hitch-bike-racks/yakima-platemate-license-plate-mount/ Thanks!

If you have that issue while assembling the rack, insert the rack into the hitch so you'll have leverage to lift on the end of the rack which will align the holes for the bolt to go through.
