I work in a fast paced lumber yard, and we use the strapping as well. I've not tried the let method, so we shall see on Monday, whether that is the bee's knees or not. Thanks+!

Great job, I always get excited when I see another one of your videos. Would have liked to see you slab up that stack. What was it?

Thanks Robert! We will be putting together a video of slabbing this one up and will get it uploaded as soon as we can get it edited... This one is what we call a Heritage Oak here in our area, it's basically white oak although I'm really not sure why we call them Heritage Oak's around here other than the fact that they get pretty big and have been on properties for generations...

I noticed you left the bark on the edges of the slabs. What is the benefit of this and does it extend the drying time?

how come you do not paint the ends of all your logs?

Do u need to strap the slab piles??
@KnottHeadCustomSawingFabWorx4 жыл бұрын
We strap our slabs back into complete logs and then stack them up, we do not strap the log stacks together, just the individual logs cut as slabs stacks... Hope that helps, if you have any more questions just let me know 👍

Is that 3/4” or 1” strapping? Also, you realize that as you pull it, your wet section of strap moves away from the buckle, right? Maybe it’s wet far enough back to not run past. 🤷♂️

I don't see paint or wax on the ends of a lot of your stacks. Aren't you afraid they'll crack and spall?
@KnottHeadCustomSawingFabWorx5 жыл бұрын
+Will Willis We only really seal up the ends of Walnut and Sycamore here, no matter what we do to the big oaks we get here they crack, we also slab alot of Redwood and they do just fine without sealing... Just ll sepends on the logs...
