The first one with Quilge was indeed interesting. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he taught other Sternritters on how to use Ransou Tengai. Take the Bambies for one. I think it would’ve made more sense if instead of seeing Giselle kill Bambietta and reanimating her as a zombie, Bambietta slowly rises up by using Ransou Tengai. That to me can be a interesting “What If” scenario for Bambietta.

The "damaged Bankai parts don't fix with recovery" makes sense when you realize that some Bankai create things external of their true bankai. The blade itself in a released bankai isn't necessarily the true source of a bankai, Kubo himself even revealed that Hisagi's shikai wasn't the blades but the chain connecting them. Mayuri's bankai isn't the giant baby itself but instead the baby is a byproduct of the bankai "giving birth" each time it's released, thus he's able to acutely modify his "bankai" to release an updated poison. So Gin's true bankai is probably the hilt. Like a snake, the fangs retract and venom is delivered at his choosing but the venom replenishes over time.

I say that Quilge tried to teach the Sternritter other Quincy techniques, but they all just tried to focus on their Schrifts as well. Like how Ryuken's dad (iirc) said the Quincies were moving beyond their current techniques in favour of the "cultish" Schrifts
@Masterblader158 Жыл бұрын
Quilge's reveal does make a lot of sense in how he was not only merely the only one in OG material to use such advanced techniques, due to a not as rapidly abusable Schrift, but treated them as second nature like he was a true expert to which all abilities are basic to him which is something a combat teacher should have. Also fits the level of trust he was given to handle an entire realm and how much knowing he was the one fighting Ichigo in particular made the Qunicy so confident Ichigo would be handled for their first invasion, if he can raise up either Sternritter he's certainly top half in combat ability. And Yhwach would want his army to have more positions than just Grandmaster and Head of Personal Guard, and beyond Hubert's rank when he was alive of vice-captain, of needing instructors to make sure the baseline was as high as possible and all Sternritter at least had Blut Vein to a high degree no matter the hax of their Schrift. Though he should have multiple instructors of different kinds, like Quincy Techniques, Archery and Sword skills, Haschwalth is also someone who would instruct for those who use swords and Soken feels like someone who also held such a position.
@mskain4896 Жыл бұрын
Yhwach himself clearly had great respect for Quilge's abilities and capabilities, as his battle with Ichigo is the impetus to begin the first invasion. He had designated Ichigo as one of his Five Special Threats...and yet he had utter confidence that Quilge alone was enough to delay Ichigo enough to prevent him from returning and aiding the Seireitei. True, some of that calculation probably revolved around his 'The Jail' which is a perfect delaying tactic, but Quilge's personal strength had to at least factor into that because you won't really have an ability to use your Schrift or other ace card if the opponent overwhelms and one- or two-shots you. The answer to the first question was actually kind of a non-answer but it did help give a further highlight to remind us that Quilge was, despite being the first Quincy boss we faced, actually quite remarkable even among the Sternritter.

10:20 I’d argue that Gin’s Bankai is not “broken” when he does this. It’s an aspect/property of the blade itself that the poison can regenerate. Sort of like how Renji’s Bankai can break off its pieces even before Byakuya broke parts of it. Plus *no one* knew Gin’s Bankai and its true nature until he specifically revealed it to kill Aizen. So makes sense Mayuri wouldn’t know about it
@Dragonpuncher123 Жыл бұрын
I think it makes perfect sense that Gin’s bankai regenerates and it’s what I always figured. Since you don’t see any chips missing in the bankai other than the one used on Aizen, it must be able to regenerate unless we think he never used it before. And that seems extremely unlikely, of course he would have tried it out to make sure his final turn and attack against Aizen actually worked. He had been working towards this for 100+ years, he wouldn’t have left something like that untested.

My thing with the Ayon question is this: the guy asking the question specifically mentioned Orihime. Orihime's healing isn't the same as regular healing, she's not actually regenerating the thing she's "healing" she's using her power of "Reject" to undo the damage as if never happened. Orihime's power isn't "healing" its continuity manipulation, its more similar to Book of the End(which also manipulates continuity) than the Healing Kido we see in Bleach. Therefore, the question of "if Orihime used her power on the Tres Bestia what how would that affect Ayon?" remains unanswered.

Orihime's power only rejects phenomena within the shield to repair it. Things outside are not effected. That's why her power is frightening to most as regenerated, healed, or rest would have remnants of the damage. So Ayon wouldn't be effected as they are outside the shields.

The thing is, leaving behind a chunk of itself is basically Gins Bankai's ability, so it wouldnt make sense for that to be considered 'damage'. On the other hand, Renji's Bankai isnt meant to have big chunks of itself shattered, so therefor, thats damage.

To me Gin's bankai is reminiscent of Sebonzakura in the way that it separates itself into pieces in order to be used; so I think of it as less of an oversight from Kubo due to information we get in TYBW but rather something along the lines of Byakuya's zanpaktou.
@Daipnemon Жыл бұрын
I dont really feel like gin's bankai regenerating feels like an oversight for two reasons. 1. Leaving the shard behind is a part of the bankais function, its different from being broken by outside forces 2. His shikai and bankai can extend the blade, essencially making more of the blade so it would make sense for him to make more to cover the missing piece

I had always thought that Sklaverei was an extension of The Jail, an alternate use of his schrift that housed the reishi and spirit bodies in his own making his own form a 'jail' (yes this is a huge stretch I know but it made sense at the time) so when it turned out to be an ability others could use i was a little disappointed in Quilge but this is a nice reminder of how big of a threat he was and how proficient he was in "base" Quincy abilities.
@herpderp5727 Жыл бұрын
But the Vollständig is meant to be an evolution of the Letzt Stil. Consider that the main ability of the Letzt Stil is the complete dominance of Reishi, where a Quincy's ability to collect Reishi is at its most powerful. It wouldn't make sense for its supposed new and improved successor to lack this trait.

I’d like to make a video request. Could you delve deep into your psychology bag and do a video explaining how all the different zanpakuto and their abilities are a reflection of the different character’s hidden personalities and desires? Or at least direct me to the video if you already did.

The fact that Quilge is OG makes him so much cooler. He's been a favorite sternritter of mine but now I love him even more Edit: Also the fact that in the anime, other Sternritter using Sklavrei but not being absolute domineers of it like Quilge further proves that he was very skilled as a Quincy where he didn't even rely on his schrift the entire fight whereas everyone else automatically chooses to use their schrifts over natural Quincy techniques.
@mustysmells817 Жыл бұрын
If you think about it, Quincy Techniques are very similar to the way Shinigami treat Kido. Sure there are huge benefits to mastery over Kido, but most of the time Captains are captains because of their overwhelming power and their abilities overshadow the necessities of these techniques. Only those who are diligent in their practice, like Quigle, Urahara, or Byakuya really benefit from knowledge and techniques outside of their innate abilities. Which also goes to show what an actual beast Ishida is, since his proficiency in Rasotengai and Sklaverei is greater than Quigle despite not having Ywacht's blessing at the time.

I think it makes sense to say that a Bankai isn't "broken" by its own ability.
@spiderdude2099 Жыл бұрын
That does KINDA makes sense for Quilge, seeing as how he’s the sternritter most frequently working with and commanding the most soldadt soldiers. Makes sense he’d fill a bit of a “boot camp general” role.

I dont feel like it takes away from gin's bankai usage. What Kubo described is what i always assumed. Gin didnt choose not to use his bankai because it had a permanent downside, but rather he didnt dare risk ever letting aizen know the truth of his bankai, so he saved it for aizen. We see multiple other bankai wear out or degrade, it's specifically when a bankai is *broken* that it becomes permanently damaged. Damaged beyond repair.

@@blitzer25blitz62 Oh I know. Bleach is extra annoying on that front. I was legitimately frustrated when Ichigo took down three lieutenants in less than a second. Loved this video !! And I agree with the idea that Gin’s Bankai should have remained damaged while using its poison technique. To me, it feels like a very poetic attack as well; Aizen stole a fragment of Rangiku’s soul to empower his Hogyoku and Gin returned in kind by leaving a piece of his zanpakuto, his soul, inside Aizen in a final gambit to put him down for good.

With the Orihime and Ayon example, I wonder if Kubo considered Orihime's rejection of phenonmenon and not just simple healing? If the Tres Bestias' arms were simply healed I don't think Ayon would dissappear but if Orihime rejects the loss of their arms that also implies the rejection of the ritual that caused the loss of their arms in the first place subsequently rejecting Ayon's manifestation. At least that makes more sense to me given Orihime's broken ability, but meh either way interesting to think about multiple Ayons just wreaking havoc lol.

Gin’s bankai being able to prepare itself makes perfect sense though. He’s a snake, his abilities reflect that. Against Ichigo, he couldnt risk exposing his trump card which was his venom, much like how Snakes use dry bites and dont actually poison every animal they encounter, they save it as a last resort for prey they’re confident they can take down/ they judge being worth their effort or not. Venom is a precious resource so if you abuse it you can run out, but its more of a cooldown while they recharge to make more than it is a once youre out youre out kind of situation.

I love how Kubo is such a “need to know” basis kinda Mangaka, if it wasn’t necessary for the story, he just doesn’t say it, so when someone asks him, and he’s like, “Yea he was the combat instructor.. Did I not put that in the.. No? Damn.”

More importantly: how was Quilge capable of absorbing reishi particles from the hollows around him (including Ayon)? Isn't hollow reiatsu supposed to be poison to Quincies?

This was great! I'm hoping you explore more of these questions, as each of the four you brought up here were fantastic for adding worldbuilding details, large and small, and I'll take as much of.that as I can get. I have absolutely no problem with Kubo's answer to the question about Gin's bankai. It fits in line with the rest of the lore surrounding zanpakutos, especially if you consider the back and middle of Shinso to be the poison and the actual cutting edge to be the real blade
@kevenblackworks1906 Жыл бұрын
Actually if you think about it, it makes sense. Kirgue would just trap the Soldat / Sternritter in his Jail, and be like: No food for you until you break out of there. Now they being Quincys should be more than able to absorb the reishi that makes up the cage. Its a perfect lesson, as no ammount of firepower would be able to break through the cage, so he would be in charge of essentially teaching them control. For example I can imagine Bambietta seemingly blowing herself up multiple times before she learns how to master Slaverai.

I'm not really bothered by the lack of other Sternritter using Ransotengai because that's an ability that has been stated to be extremely rare that you'd have to be "gifted" to possess in other words. And Gin leaving fragments of his blade in Aizen isn't the same as "breaking" his blade. You can compare it to Senbonzakura Kageyoshi and Daiguren Hyorinmaru. Senbonzakura Kageyoshi naturally seperates into countless blades that the idea of "breaking" it doesn't really exist. Daiguren Hyorinmaru is made of both ice and water frozen from the atmosphere. So it can always reform by freezing that it can't get "destroyed" entirely.

I feel like the use of sklave rai in the anime is a hint at who quilge ‘s students are. The ones that used it are: robert and the bambies. So in my head canon they were probably tought by quilge

It makes since with the puppeteer move as it was mentioned to have originally been used by older Quincy more so than for regular fighting. Uryuu used it sure, but he seemingly studied all the info he could and didn’t know of schrifts, meaning he focused on the other aspects.
