I think Ichigo’s mugetsu is unique though since it’s definitely a mixture between his Quincy and soul reaper powers but not in the way we see in TYBW but More so a forced merging. This is supported by old man zangetsu and white becoming one and Dangai ichigo merging with his bankai. It’s just not as complete since only a small percentage of his Quincy powers were accessible hence it was sorta forced.

The best version of this I've heard, that makes a little more sense is that narratively Mugetsu can be seen as all of Ichigo's powers forming into one state. The idea being that the Mugetsu is subconsciously modelled after the Letz Stil but also just as much based on his Hollow powers and his Shinigami powers.

I believe your interpretation to be the most likely...(until Kubo says something otherwise). We've never seen Isshin use his mugetsu, so we don't have an accurate idea of the drawbacks, but we did see a similar quincy ability (Letz Stihl) and it's drawbacks are mighty similar. Also, it tracks that Ichigo would have gotten back his powers eventually since the only other example (Uryuu) got back his in a similar way

You could argue it's similar to both a Getsuga Tenshu, Cero, AND Letz Stihl in being a massive projectile. He references becoming death in a way, which as an endpoint feels far more Shinigami than Quincy and Aizen's constant references to Ichigo's unreadable spiritual pressure heavily implies he became a being even an Aizen likely able to conquer Soul Society couldn't understand. For me that's partly from how strong he is, but also likely due to the effect the Dangai training had of fusing his different sword entities (At the time) into one being. Not Hollow Not Quincy Not Shinigami Just...Ichigo. (Something something "My bankai is me" something something)

Old Man Zangetsu did use Quincy Powers during the fight with Zaraki, but did not give that power to Ichigo. This power only worked while Ichigo was briefly in perfect sync with Old Man Zangetsu. 4. Ichigo's fullbringer powers were always kinda there, but he needed the extra push to actually get a hold of them. 5. Rukia did not give Ichigo his soul reaper powers, she gave him HER soup reaper powers. It was Kisuke Urahara who helped Ichigo unlock his own soul reaper powers.

It IS a shinigami ability, that is proven in the canon on more than one account, but also Ichigo's hollow and quincy powers are built into his shinigami powers so you could always see those traits in him even before that. His black getsuga is basically a cero and his black cloak is the same as the quincy's shadow power. Mugetsu just made both of those features features more obvious. If Isshin had unlocked his it'd look more like his zanpakuto spirit, since that's what beyond bankai does. For ichigo that was the features of both White and Ywhach Zangetsus', before we knew what exactly they were

@@threeeyedgoldpatrick Actually the CFYOW novels establish that the soul king came into existance after shinigami and hollows already existed. He wasnt a god that created the universe, the only race that came from him did so indirectly by the quincies coming from his son, though in a sense you could say he was the first quincy as well. But I agree that it doesnt matter that Isshin taught him about the final. Its a form that was mentioned more than once in the canon. Very few knew about it but those that did spoke of it as though ot were just another shinigami ability. Albeit one that is a lot harder to attain than a bankai. Ichigo's quincy and hollow powers are apart of his Shinigami powers though so with those two things in mind its pretty obvious that his final is just doing what finals do, take the shape of his zanpakuto spirit, which in this case are Ywhach and White Zangetsus, which are also the forms his hollow and quincy sides took at his birth, but they are also still his zanpakuto spirits regardless. He may be a hybrid but his shinigami powers still work as normal

Correct, powers would function slightly different from soul to soul. And ichigo's FGT does infuse quincy powers (very little, but it does). But that, in no way, makes it utilise "letz stil" into FGT. Because letz stil is activated via the quincy tool. That being said, the first time ichigo used his quincy powers was against zaraki when he stopped his bleeding.

Okay here's a counter argument Isshin himself said that Ichigo will have to convince Zangetsu to teach him how to use precisely because of the consequences of the Final Getsuga Tenshou Second Isshin's and Ichigo's Getsuga Tenshou function exactly the same When Ichigo uses it with only his shikai it is just a pure reiatsu blast just like Isshins when he used it every other time Ichigo's Getsuga Tenshou in Bankai gets infused with his Hollow powers not his Quincy powers. We know that because Ulquiorra comments on how his Getsuga Tenshou is similar to a Cero blast Isshin's Getsuga only becomes infused with fire when Engetsu is released so if he would've ever used FGT it would function exactly the same as Ichigo's did but on fire instead of the black reiatsu And lastly Letz Stille is not at all similar to FGT for one it is not a total loss of power like FGT he was still able to see hollows and Shinigami after losing his powers unlike Ichigo Also adding to the first and second point Isshin also said that Engetsu refused to teach him the Final Getsuga Tenshou Why would Engetsu refuse to teach Isshin FGT if it didn't have the exact same consequences?

First time was actually the first against renji. Whenever ichigo got "focussed" in the first episodes his aura always turned blue. Once his hollow powers took more of his power over his reiatsu also got darker especially with bankai

Ichingo's dad being able to use final getsuga is slightly wrong. He knows of it and how to learn it, but he really couldnt even if he wanted to because it requires that their bankai spirit teach it to them of which his flat refused to teach it, incase it used it. That technique is a sacrificial move one of which for almost anyone besides ichigo is no different than cutting off the connection built between your bankai spirt and reitsu abilities and the user.(it should kill soul reapers)

Zangetsu's bankai is actually him using his quincy powers and White is actually the fusion of his hollow and shinigami powers. Close but ichigo is a quincy that had a hollow as his soul (his soul is white ) and that later became a shinigami thanks to urahara's training making his soul (white) his true zanpakuto but since he was born as a quincy ( and all quincy come from Yhwach and have a little bit of him inside their soul ) his quincy part took control of his shinigami/hollow powers and only let him use a little part of them. Whats also why ichigo's new zanpakuto was a single sword but when he acepted the part of Yhwach's soul inside of him as part of his own soul his zanpakuto became two swords.

Its a getsuga, a shinigami/ zanpakuto technique. Theres a couple going oh his hair being balck and long is just like yuha. Hisnhairnis long due to the hollow presence. Ichigos energy is black when its used in tandem with hollow. Juha's only displayed black energy post taking the soulkings power. If it was a quincy technique in anyway it would have had a quincy name or it would have been like yumechikas zanpakuto, it would hav3 worked to a very diminished effect.

I think the first actual use of Quincy ability from Ichigo was all throughout the first chapter. Hollows are attracted to them, which is how ichigo becomes a target. Its shinigami power, which is last resort attack that is kept as secret since shinigami loses power. Zanpakuto doesn't learn his owner this ability cause it would rather die then lose connection with shinigami

Actually everything Ichigo has done other than mugetsu and his hollow abilities were his quincy abilities. Old man zangetsu himself said he steered Ichigo away from his soul reaper abilities. Further they are all abilities that Quincys have. Gathering and concentrating Reiatsu. Also his shinigami abilities are all tied into his soul reaper abilities. When he uses his hollow abilities then he is using his soul reaper abilities.

Because the supposed final getsuga is the fused form of the Quincy and hollow spirit perfected. But because he didn't yet master the Vasto Lorde form, so the Quincy part took a majority portion of power to combine the two souls, that's why Ichigo didn't go berserk against aizen.

Mugetsu is a technique of the Soul Reapers old families that Ichigo's Father taught him, even tough it used his quincy powers, it also used all of his other powers. In reality, both Bankai and Shikai of Ichigo are a merge of his Quincy and Shinigami powers, Zangetsu says it himself. Getsuga Tensho, Bankai, Shikai, those were all QUINCY powers trying to mimic what a Soul Reaper power would be. The TRUE Shinigami power comes within his True Bankai, which impersonates the Hollow powers in his body (The Horn), and not one, but TWO Swords, one black sword, his quincy powers, and one white sword, his shinigami powers. Every form of Ichigo (Except Vasto Lorde) is a fusion of all his 3 Energies and "races" contained within. Mugetsu uses all the powers he had, but is a SHINIGAMI technique, not quincy related at all.

I recall when ishida discover rukia saying something about red ribbons are for shinigamis and blue ones are for humans, only the quincy can see, later in anime (dont remember if was the same chapter), ichigo could sense the ribbons too. The last one was in the 3rd movie, when ichigo and renji were locating rukia and the hollow, ichigo could sense the rukia reiatsu and "the red ribbon" shows the way ( :p ).

Mugetsu/Final Getsuga Tensho isn't a quincy ability. His father has it too. I theorize that all zanpakuto are capable of a "final attack" like that that drains the users shinigami powers, just it's kind of a taboo to use. It would explain how Urahara knew what Ichigo was going to experience while losing his powers, as well as how to restore them.

Ichigo's Shinigami power actually suppressing something. Like what Zangetsu said, he supressing something inside Ichigo, and afraid of it will hurting him. And we got another clue from White Ichigo that what he afraid from Ichigo is not Zangetsu. So, Inside White Ichigo and Quincy power is constantly on fight. Zangetsu is suppressing Ichigo's Quincy power. So, that Quincy and Hollow inside ichigo is in balance and not destroying Ichigo. Considering his father, Isshin, knew about that form, taught him how to use that form, knew it would take Ichigo's powers away... I'd say it isn't. Final Getsuga was more like a plot device to reset Ichigo since he was way way too strong after the Dangai training. From Aizens fully charged attack his arm only got burnt and that was without trying to attack or deflect anything. Do note he was already blowing away mountains with just his sword and never used a single Getsuga tenshou attack, nor did he hollowfy in that fight. Man's was too OP
