This is very well done! Direct and to the point. I have changed the motor oil and filters many times + the two fuel filters but never did the hydro. It's something I always had Kubota do when the tractor was in the shop for other services at different points in it's life. I was going to install french drains this weekend but getting rained out. Decided to do a full PM instead and glad I came across your video. Hydro getting changed this morning. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and experience.

Great video. Thanks man. Cut down time down on my job a lot. I bought the gallons though, getting old... I had an issue with my screen cleaner tube thingy coming out, I missed my 50 hour initial check. I had to use a flat head screwdriver and gently tap it out with a hammer to get it to come out. You must tap from right to left placing screwdriver between the built up lips. I tapped all around so I didn't get it in a bind... Gave up pretty easy. I had the clean the rim well once out because there was some rusty build up. Looked good and went back in pretty smooth. Thanks again

Just wanted to say thanks. I'm doing my 50 hr this weekend for the first time. I was concerned about the hydro flow and if it would go all over the place. I think I'll leave the dipstick in and go have a beer. Comes out pretty strong once you give it some vent. Again thanks.

I had to add some hydraulic fluid to my dad's bx2680 (he has a slight leak with the loader on one of the lift 90 degree elbows) so we topped off the fluid but now after working it for a bit the hydraulic fluid is foamy with air bubbles and the loader lifting and tilting has no smooth control when you have a load. I am assuming that the hydro system has air in it some how? I thought I could just top the system off and it would be fine while it's off did I do that wrong, or did it get air in it because it was low? I'm still learning these hydraulic systems and how it works so idk if I did something wrong or if it was just because it was being used with low fluid. If that's the case how do I bleed the air out?

Thank you sir, great video. I've noticed my BX1500 transmission fluid level reads correctly when the motor is cold. However if I run the machine for a bit the level reads very high. Any thoughts? Thank you for your time.
@TractorTech

It is normal for it to rise some. The fluid expands as it warms up. If it is moving way up on the dipstick, one thing that comes to mind is the trans over heating. Check and make sure all of the blades are on your hydro fan under the tractor.

On newer bx’s, I have a 2370-1, there is more shielding to protect the hydraulic fan. You wouldn’t be able to use the end cap wrench for the filter unless you remove that shielding. Thanks for the videos though

Good video Bullitt. My 50 hour service is coming soon. I hadn't changed fluids yet and that fluid didn't look too bad. I thought maybe it would have been dark as in a car or truck. Did you find any metal shavings or anything? Don't know if tractor oil pans have a magnet near drain hole. Excellent step-by-step walk through. Thanks again for sharing.
@TractorTech
@TractorTech 6 жыл бұрын
There may be some fine metal from the break in process. Hydraulic oil is usually clear so if it is dark you have a problem. These don't have a magnet on the drain plug of the hydro. On a Kubota at 50 hours you just have to change the filter, then at 400 you change the fluid and filter. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Do you know how much fluid comes out on just a filter change? I have to change the filter but the manual states the fluid is good for 200hrs. I’m curious if jacking up the back end would reduce the fluid loss.
@TractorTech
@TractorTech 5 жыл бұрын
Are you doing the 50hr service? When I did mine I drained all of of the fluid into a clean container. I removed the suction strainer and cleaned it and replaced the filter. I bought a gallon of fluid and did not use hardly any for top off.

Good info. What does that service usually cost at dealer vs do it yourself? I would think a considerable amount.
@TractorTech

To do a 400hr service it would cost $150-175 in materials. I bet it would cost $400-500 to have it done it at the dealer, maybe more.

Ideally you would want to have all of the cylinders retracted, loader down with the bucket rolled back, etc. That won't be possible to do on every cylinder on the bh.

94BULLITT I like that on my yanmar I can stick a 5 gallon bucket under the drain plug. It makes it easy to catch the fluid I'm a clean bucket to reuse it if doing a service that you need to drain it to get to or if I'm changing it just to drain in a bucket.

Yes, but I use gear oil. I don't see any advantage to using the more expensive SUDT2 in the front axle.
@josephduclos9032
@josephduclos9032 6 жыл бұрын
The Super UDT is better for the front axle in cold climates. I have the 50” snowblower so I stick with the SUDT, if the axle starts to weep, I’ll change to 80W-90 which seems to be SOP on the boards.
@andysworld2188
@andysworld2188 5 жыл бұрын
If you use your tractor for snow removal than you really want to drain that hydraulic fluid out of the front axle and use a heavy gear oil. The lighter weight oil gets pretty warm while the tractor is working. Than when your done and park it, that nice warm front axle will melt the snow and when it cools back down and contracts, it can suck that melted water into the front axle. I've seen more than 1 video where people had some serious rusting going on inside the front axle. 1 guy had to do a rebuild. The key is to just be faithful with your maintenance. If you check it regularly and keep an eye on things you should be able to notice if water gets in there.
