These old Kubotas are amazing machines. Mine fired without even cranking after sitting in the corner of a garage for a year untouched. Just touched the key after 20 seconds preheat and it came to life. I will put it to the test cold starting this winter.

I miss my Kubota. It was very old, like 1980-ish. I used to drive it to the store as a kid. Rain, sleet, snow, whatever, just give the old glow plugs a few seconds and she'd fire right up. Never had too many problems out of the old beast... A freeze plug here, a new clutch there, had to change the ignition out because of a short (during that time I just had it hotwired lol). Was a great running tractor, had a tiller and bush hog for it.

yup, kubota rocks- just picked up a 2010 2320 and love it- I must also admit that my old john deere 855 started at 10F with no pre-heating this winter- amazed me

any diesel can start up when you hold the damn glow plug switch down for 10 hours. my toro will start up after about 10 seconds of preheating it in like 3 degrees F

I own a 1978 Kubota B7100D 4wd and I've never had issues starting in the cold. I've had this tractor now for 8 years and here in Western NY we have weeks on end that average -30 without windchill and my tractor starts just fine as long as my battery is on a trickle charger and I use my block heater before starting.

you shouldnt need a minute worth of glow plugs, even on an older diesel. Glow plugs heat up real quick. You might want to invest in new glow plugs which wont cost much. Yours couldnt be burnt out and old. should need no more then 10 seconds of glow plugs.

Kubotas are good tractors BUT when it breaks down you have to get the parts straight from a Kubota warehouse. with a Farmall or a John Deere you can order it from NAPA which is a heck of a lot cheaper. so great tractors bad to replace parts.

Does NO one think of oil flow?? How about spin that sumbi**h for several seconds to at least *start* oil pressure to build, to fill the oil galleys, etc. THEN heat the glow plugs and fire it up. I can't imagine how much bearing wear occurs each time you fire that thing up, at high idle, with no spin time. Think of the crankshaft bearings. They cry.
