Excellent video, the load cell tells the tail. I'd like to see competitive brands compared on this measurable method. The specs are so confusing for a first time tractor buyer, but you can't just trust what every sales rep says either. Some are honest, some baffle you with BS, but they all are so convincing (at least the good ones). Then you have the forums full of fan boys. A test like this would prove the results. Everybody has different needs for their tractor. For me min'e is more of an off-road forklift and I need maximum lift down low up to truck bed height. Don't really care if I can dump dirt into a triaxle, I don't have one. I still believe I bought the right tractor for me, but If I were to re purchase I'd be making a more intelligent in my analysis of facts and features after owning one for several years,.

I really liked this video. As usual it was very well done. My question is is there a video which shows with the LX3310 can I actually lift? I mean how big of a tree or how much gravel will fit in the grapple or scoop? I understand the math but how do you tell how heavy a tree is after you cut it? I was watching a video about a guy who bent the front and loaders by trying to lift a tree too heavy. Is there a physical observable marker that would tell you you’re lifting something to high? I’d rather be able to see something first before I blew like hydraulic seals or bent anything. Sorry I’m pretty new to this.

I have a 2020 model year L3901 with loader and backhoe. With the backhoe attached I can easily lift, carry and stack full sized round bails of hay. The 6’ 1,800lbs round bails not the smaller 5’ 1,100lbs round bails. Those lifting rated numbers are way lower then what Kubota says. I’m able to double stack those large bails of hay easily, yes it does go slow getting it up there but it does it with no issues at all. Definitely a tractor I am completely happy with buying it makes my small 15 acre farm work so much easier and I have yet to find a job that I have asked it to that it hasn’t been able to do.

Thanks Neil! But, the spec vs measured differences are more dramatic than your video showed. The LX series uses the LA535 loader, but you showed the spec sheet for the B series' LA534. The LA535's spec at 2000 mm is 769 pounds @ 19.5" whereas you measured 847 pounds. Similar differences at 1500 mm. Overall, published spec for LA535 looks VERY conservative based on your measurements!

I like the bucket pin measurements. I think it is the only way to get an accurate apples to apples comparison between different brands. For example, if a tractor comes with a ssl quick coupler standard and you are measuring to bucket center, the numbers should look considerably better for the brand that has a pin on bucket as standard equipment.

I wish Neil would have done another test at 24 inches off the ground. You are supposed to have some real high numbers. My B2650 has the LA534 compared to its twin brother the LX2610 in the video which uses the LA535. So the Lx can lift 1 kg (2.2 lbs) more than my B2650 (thats what the numbers mean. My LA534 can lift 534 kg from the pivot pins at full height). Anyways tomorrow i have to pick up from the store 1,457 lbs of wood laminate floor. The bed of my 16 ft landscaping trailer only sits about 16 or 17 inches off the ground. I am curious if i will lift it or have to pull some boards off to make it lighter. Granted i will be using pallet forks so the load will be out front a little bit.

This kind of makes me want to make a place in my yard I can periodically test my lifting capacity of my equipment. I feel like my tractor has dropped lifting capacity in the first year of owning it. The 3 point seems to be weaker as well, I've taken it to the dealer but they said it's fine, I feel like the hydraulics need to be readjusted to bring back lifting capacity. Also I have never been able to spin year tires which I feel like I should be able to do. Even In the mud if I try to push something to heavy the tractor will just die and never spin a tire, which I have never experienced on any other equipment. I still love the tractor just want more out of it

I think my least favorite part on my L4600 HST is the gearshift - frequently I will be going down a steep hill and be looking over my right shoulder to watch the implement (as you do) which pushes my hind end up against the gear lever and wheeeee! all of a sudden we're flying into the barbed wire because I butt-shifted it into neutral. This is not made better by the criminal lack of a grab handle on the starboard side to keep from doing that with (OK, worst thing #2) so I keep accidentally grabbing the tire or putting my hand between the fender and the tire; neither of which is very helpful either. Not sure why Kubota didnt do the obvious and put one on BOTH sides, but its a major brain fart (I know in Japan they drive on the left, do they BALE on the left also?).

Neil, question regarding lift capacity using the Universal Landpride Forks. Based on an LX2610 with the Cab, is it even worth going with the PFL2042 rated for 2100lbs that weighs about 73lbs more than the PFL1242 rated for 1200lbs? Will it even lift close to that weight say 1' off the ground? Contemplating the PFL1242 or PFL2042 and want to make sure the right decision gets made especially if the PFL1242 is ONLY rated for the 1200lbs and there is nothing in between these 2 weights. Thanks in advance!!

ratings are for the pair of tines. So PFL1242 @ 600 per fork could bend if the entire weight was on one tine. PFL2042 would be totally appropriate.

Just bought the compact 2501 with LA525 bucket, a set of forks, and also a grapple. Found out real quick you can't actually lift anything of consequence with it. A knee-high stack of bricks on a pallet?...nope. A round bale of hay with a hay spear? nope. Half a bucket full of dirt is about it. Really having a LOT of buyers remorse now. Needs bigger hydraulics to get any real work done. Guess the old Ford 8N isn't retiring yet.

I would really like to know why you cannot up the lifting capability of these machines? Is the frame not heavy enough? Are the arms not builds strong enough? Is there some specific reason why they can't be beefed up in the same size range for heavier capacity? Seems like if you beef up the components and you beef up the hydraulic system you can have something more capable around 1500 or 2000 pounds so you can really do some heavy work around the farm or your property. Moving trees Etc. I know they make larger machines for heavier lifting but why not make a beefier smaller machine that can do the work? So you can get into those tight places and the people that own the smaller properties can also utilize them.

If you are lifting the back tires off the ground, aren't you cheating yourself out of lift capacity? If you literally anchor the rear to the ground, wouldn't you be able to lift more weight? Still would love to see ck2610 on this test. I'm looking at both brands. When I do decide to purchase I plan to take a pallet loaded with weight to make sure they will do what they claim. Or someone can donate a 2610 for messicks to test so I just have to take a checkbook with me instead 🤣

@@MessicksEquip I looked up loader specs on the Kubota website. The pin is where they measure also.

@@timallen8988 you'll find 2-3 measurements on most spec sheets... but unfortunately yea, I've seen some cases where they are caving to the trend

@@jdboy9 my Kubota dealer had a bunch of different materials to demo through. They can't fake letting you hop on and using the tractor yourself. EDIT: I should have noted that my local Kioti/Yanmar and my local John Deere did *not* have a playground for me to demo a tractor on. All they had were rows and tractors and papers for me to look at. The Kubota dealer let me run six or seven tons of gravel, clay and broken asphalt around their yard.

I kinda think the biggest reason was to put distance between the LX3310 and the reputation that the B3350 had built.

I think all these test should be from ground to about a foot off the ground where 98% of people use their loader mostly.

Well go figure, the bigger & better loader is stronger & more capable. So what exactly was the point of this video? Maybe I missed something.

As you said the bigger is stronger, but on paper its not.
