It’s wonderful to see any new tractor owner who is so interested and knowledgeable about their tractor. One helpful point though, since you have a front snowblower it would be a great idea to have a blade on the three point hitch. It helps when it comes to scraping a long driveway such as yours.

I've thought of purchasing one but the snowblower does a pretty good job and I haven't had any issues. The box blade actually works great.

First thank you for this -- it's very helpful. I just finished my 50 hour maintenance. May I suggest a couple of tricks I tried that worked. 1. Tent aluminum foil over the wiring harness under the oil filter. It's tight, but it kept the oil off the harness and collected some in the foil. 2. I put a shop vac over the transmission fill hole, but offset a little. You don't want to suck out any tranmission fluid but you want some suction. When I removed the transmission filter I lost a little fluid, but it didn't gush. It sounded like slurping - someone sucking up the bottom of a drink with a straw. It pulled enough air up that the fluid couldn't stream out.

I will definitely try the offset with the shop vac and the tinfoil trick.Thank you! 😁

The cold weather is getting old isn't it? It started out at -26F here just the other day. Each morning starts below zero and slowly warms up to a temp we can live with. You do a good job of demonstrating all of this.

Thank you so much! The Deep Freeze definitely has its challenges! We do enjoy the winter very much and understand that doing so makes us odd! Definitely have a completely different wardrobe for winter than summer months! Do you use an engine block heater on your tractor? We have one and find plugging it in for an hour or prior to starting does wonders for starting on subzero days.

@@redfoxmanortractorsequipment , my L2501 does have an engine block heater. My 2520 John Deere with the heated cab has the hose heater and I discovered last weekend that the heater has quit working. I am going to in stall a block heater in that tractor. I do believe that the block heaters are the best way to go. The tractor stays in an un-heated shed. I plug it in and then trip the breaker in the basement and turn it back on an hour or so before I go to start the tractor. That works very well for me.

The only other thing someone might be interested in starting early on a new tractor is oil analysis. I always keep a Blackstone collection bottle around for whatever oil changes happen to be going on in my life. Airplane, tractor, cars, trucks...

@@redfoxmanortractorsequipment ummm, Blackstone Labs... they mail you a sample container and you capture some motor oil while draining oil at oil change, then they analyze it for metals, and other signs of engine wear or contaminants.

You shouldn't have free flowing hair while doing maintenance. You're not concerned about your long, loose hair getting caught up in your casters when you roll underneath your tractor..?

I had the majority of it tucked up in my hood for most of it. However, if I'm running equipment I always have it pulled back tight and never free flowing. The part that was loose when I showed it was after fighting with the transmission filter.

Please don’t assume anything. I got on here to find the flipin dip stick only to find out it’s behind the guard. Btw, does your hydrostat whine so loud you have to wear hearing protection?? I never would have bought this if I’d ever known. My John Deere ( lost in a fire ) , had zero hydrostat noise
