I traded my U35 on a Kx040. Much stronger machine, and since I really didnt need the ZTS feature, I now have better lifting capacity, and better ability to pull trees out.

Jimmy Thornton good to know, the specs look equal but real world conditions mean everything

Jimmy -- thoughts on a KX-033 ? I think 040 just slightly too big for my farm/hunt property - but dont want to screw up the decision-- for general stuff - drainage ditches, possible water lines, pull stumps..clear land....

@@bullrun1 Haven't ran a 33, but I will say that pulling/removing stumps takes a lot of hydro power. The U35 really struggled with anything above baseball bat size trees (diameter) The 040 will take down (push over and rootball ) trees up to 10-12" and some species bigger than that You will Not regret a slightly larger machine. A small machine will be frustrating

Another data point to consider: The KX040 (mine now has 86 hours, had .3 of an hour when I got it) uses consistently .75 to 1 gal per hour at 1/2 to full throttle, and NOT using ECO mode. I find that ECO slows the hydro response, which is fine for careful slow work, but if production is the goal, leave it off. I can rootball and remove a 12" ash stump (12" log diameter, roughly 40-50 foot tree) in about 15 to 20 mins. With the U35, that would have taken 30 to 45 mins. Once the stump is balled out, the KX will lift it out with the thumb. The U35 would not. Simply didnt have the hydro power, and didnt have the counter weight.

I learned from watching this video that the only difference is that the KX machine has a 6-way blade.

Do both of these machines have Auto throttle up/down RPM?
