Very smart decision. That Kubota was just a few years from the scrap yard.. That machine had seen a lot of salt.
@PurpleCollarLife

I definitely think salt played a major role. It was probably owned by a business or municipality that used it to salt sidewalks or parking lots or something. Thanks for watching!

I think you made the right decision. Rust is a bad thing, no matter how anyone tries to spin it. Eventually the rust eats it up and it will fall apart, sometimes catastrophically. I've seen frames so rusty, they literally split in half while driving. So, thumbs up! 👍 One thing to remember about investing money in something you use: Whatever you put into it, you get back out of it. The problem is investing money into something that you end up selling or know you're going to sell. Sometimes the best thing to do is sell the equipment, let prospective buyers know it needs maintenance and let them deal with it. Once again, I know that from first hand experience. I paid for and had a new windshield installed in an S10 pickup that I traded in because I thought it would help with my trade in value. The dealer later told me that it wouldn't have made any difference in its value. And I know that now because I've seen vehicles traded with big dents in the side, broken windshields, etc.. Chalk it up to lesson learned. 😊 Thanks for sharing, Chad! 😎

I was thinking about that the entire time - that the rust I see today would only keep getting worse over time. I think I would be kicking myself and missing the Polaris every time I spent money on the Kubota. Thanks for watching!

You made the right decision. I bought a new Kubota UTV 520, 2 years ago. I did not need the bigger one with diesel. Do we love it? Absolutely! Do we maintain it and keep it clean? Absolutely! I looked around at used ones and that size Kubota is used hard and usually used in a commercial business. I am not a fan of the plastic beds and love the steel bed on the Kubota. We put on a roof, vented windshield, brush guard, better rims and tires, and mirrors. PS, AC, and heat are just 3 more things you will have to maintain, fix, or replace. KISS...Keep It Simple Stupid. Great video as always. Glad to see you did not go down the rabbit hole with that Kubota.

Very wise decision. I have owned two Kubota RTV X1100C. The 2014 model was flawless. The 2018 model has been disappointing. I am 75 years old and use it mainly as a golf cart. No plowing snow etc. Last month the transaxle "imploded". The dealer said a valve/piston in the drive pump had cracked. It cost me $6,409 to have it replaced. It is out of Warranty with 842.9 hours. So, Kubota says there is nothing they can do. Very sad testimony for quality and customer goodwill.

I own a Kubota X1140 that I bought new. It is a workhorse of a machine but I wouldn't touch one that had that much rust. I keep mine garaged when not in use. It looks like that unit has been used for snow removal and salting. It would have been a big job getting it back to the proper condition. You made a good call passing.

I have the 1100C. I have only had it for 10months. Bought it new and love it. The rust would have been a turnoff for me too. I gotta say though, I have only ever bought things new. That way I’m not buying what someone else wants to get rid of for some reason.

You made a good decision! The Kubota is a good machine, but, I feel that they are overrated. The Polaris is very good machine. We’ve got a full size Ranger on the farm with a couple 1k hours and it’s never failed us. We pull heavy equipment, plus, two self propelled bush hogs and move trailers around with it all the time. Never a problem. The only regret I have is that I did not get power steering! The way you use yours, it should last a very long time!

So what did they say was the problem with your all wheel drive not working
@PurpleCollarLife
@PurpleCollarLife Жыл бұрын
It was actually a combination of things. At first, we thought it was the electro magnet in the front rear end. But when he disassembled that, he found that a spring was not in correctly. When he reassembled that part of the unit, the electro magnet then worked properly. As he worked his way back the rest of the drivetrain, he saw that the yoke between the shaft and the rear differential was mostly stripped - so that was part of the problem too. (If I understand it correctly).

Smart move! Just like a vehicle, you'd be chasing rust on that thing forever! Probably spend more time repairing it then hauling firewood and how much money would you need to keep forking out? At this point you know your Polaris and you know how it's been maintained, sometimes that's invaluable.
@PurpleCollarLife

Thinking back on it - I should have made the "No" decision earlier than I did. I probably spent nearly an hour looking it all over. You're right - I would have been chasing down the rust for the rest of that Kubota life.

So basicalky you came across a Not Well Maintained vehicle. Thats got nothing to say for the brand itself. You did a good job researching before buying. Cudos. The only reason I wiuld have an enclosed cab is to keep the dust out if working a field. On a more positive note... I just came across a 2018 X900 270 hrs... A Baby still in Diapers... was Very Lucky at 9.5k. Its the worksite version, with added winshield and headache rack.

Hopefully the working AWD will now do the trick. But there is plenty of room back on the rear tires to add chains.
